We are getting married on March 23 which happens to be the spring break time for my school that I work for which is why we chose the date so that I wouldn’t have to take off time and I could just enjoy the one week off we already have for spring break.
My Fiance and I are trying to save money so that we can put down a nice down payment on a house that we plan to purchase within 6 to 12 months after we get married. So we don’t want to spend over $4,000 on our honeymoon. I would prefer to go on a cruise like we planned, but I am having a hard time finding a cruise and the flight from St. Louis to equal less than our honeymoon budget.
So I am looking to see what have my other bees have done for a honeymoon that didn’t break the bank. Let me know what yuo did and how much you have paid or are paying for the honeymoon. If you didn’t have to pay for the honeymoon (Great for you) let me know how much was paid.
I know that some couples choose to have their honeymoon later, but I am only really interested in having my honeymoon directly after the wedding because of my job being on spring break at that time.

From the threads I’ve read here about honeymoon costs, people spend all different amounts on their honeymoons, depending on what their budget is. There’s a lot of bees who are really savvy at booking budget travel (who bought Groupons, booked through Expedia, etc.) and have saved a lot of money on their honeymoons. Here are a few threads you might want to check out:
I think you can definitely do a cruise for less than $4000! Hopefully some other bees can chime in with recommendations… I haven’t gone on a cruise since I was a kid.

We didn’t do a cruise but we’re spending $4200 for 6 nights at Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. That includes our flights food and drinks (its all inclusive). We booked through Expedia, I’d definitely look on their website! Good luck!!

I know most cruises leave from Florida, or thereabouts. Have you looked into cruises from NY? Carnival and Norwegian both have cruises to the Bahamas – maybe airfare to there is cheaper during spring break?

We also did an AI in Dominican Republic – Royal Catalonia Bavaro. It was adults only and amazing, and we got the whoel package (flight, 6 nights AI, roundtrip private transfers from the DR airport, and trip insurance) for $2004. Add on RT cabs to JFK, tips, and one awesome excursion (Bavaro Splash) and we probably spent $2500 total. It was DEFINITELY worth it. Flights from STL might be a bit more expensive, but you should def be able to get in under budget. We booked through CheapCaribbean.com and loved them.
Here’s one of my many pics of the beach:

We are doing Sandals Grande Riviera in Jamaica for 8 nights and 7 days, its costing us $4100. We went through a Sandals travel agent that I found at a bridal show, they don’t charge more for their services because they already get paid by Sandals. They do give you really great deals, better than what you’d be able to find online and they also give you bits of advice about each resort so there are no surprises when you get there! That price includes both of our roundtrip air tickets and the room. If you want to do extra excursions while you’re there like swimming with dolphins, horseback riding, etc. those are extra but you could always set up a honeymoon registry for those things! Sandals are also all inclusive which is a plus! Hope this helps!

We spent just over $4000 for a week in Jamaica — and that included flights from Seattle, half of which were business class (we booked on CostcoTravel)! I’m sure you could go there from Missouri for less. The resort was Couples San Souci (all-inclusive), and I can’t say enough good things about it!!

I;m getting sick thinking about my honeymoon budget because I am going to spend WAY more than I wanted to or budgeted for. However, super excited regardelss as it will be a REAL honeymoon. We’re going 2 weeks after the wedding becasue I’ll have oot family staying with me and I want to spend time with them while they are here (my mom, sisters, brother, uncle, aunts, cousin, granma, etc).
My honeymoon is a little over $1500 (no flights). It’s 2 different all inclusive resorts, 3 nights at each. The only extra money we’ll have to shell out will be for any extras we want, like spa treatments or excursions. But with us soending so much more than what I wanted to, I don’t see us booking any extras.

Like a couple other posters, we went to Punta Cana Dominican Republic but we stayed at the Majestic Elegance. We upgraded to elegance club (room upgrade, butler, lounges, more bars, ADULST ONLY section of pool & beach) for 8 nights. Including our flights and roundtrip transportation to the airport, I think it came out to around 3,200. All-inclusive resort too. It was AMAZING! and totally worth the money! I want to go back… NOW!
