@memo:  Deerhurst is a beautiful resort. I have been there for a weekend, but not for a wedding. I am not sure how their pricing is. I’d assume a weekday date would drastically bring the cost down.

I have also been to Cranberry and it is a TERRIBLE resort. I would highly recommend that you don’t have your special day there or it will be special in the wrong way!

We were married at the Shamrock Lodge, Port Carling. It’s a small family run resort on the shores of Lake Rosseau. Beautiful area, and quiet. Tim Bryant is the contact person there and he is wonderful, as are all his staff members who did a fab job for us.

He didn’t charge a venue fee. He can make a menu that you want work within your budget. You will have to rent maybe a tent, but he has a solid concrete patio that a 30×40 tent covers completely.

Rate was good. You will find with Muskoka resorts that they will have a two night min. for you and your guests. With Tim, he gave us a special price for our wedding guests for the weekend if we had it outside of his busy season (July 1 – August 31). I had looked at the resport Bayview Wildwood, but what turned me off them was that I would have to book a set number of rooms based on the people that I had there. Basically if I had enough people at the wedding that totaled 60% of the total room in their dinning hall, then I would haev to book 60% of the rooms, regardless if these guests were staying or not – and it was a 2 night min. there).

Our wedding in total was $8,000 – and I believe it was just under $3,000 for us to have the wedding at Shamrock (we didn’t do a bar though and instead paid a corkage fee and brought our own for the guests to use).
