- Wedding: September 2012
Hi Ladies,
I’m sure there’s a post out there already, and if so, please forgive me and feel free to direct me to the post I should read.
My original plan was to do a simple ceremony a few months earlier at the City Clerk’s (City Hall 5-min quickie) just to get official, and then maybe have our wedding party do a small announcement for us on the day of our wedding as a pseudo-ceremony. This was our ‘budget’-way.
However, Fiance and I got it into our heads that, if we can find an affordable officiant, maybe we can just do it like the real-deal. Wedding ceremony, day of, official and everything–and create a really memorable wedding day.
Being completely clueless about this stuff, I did not know that ceremonies were priced differently based on how many people attend. I just thought, even if it’s 10 people, 20 people, 300 people, it’s the same thing isn’t it? I learned that it is not.
So, our situation is this: We’re looking at probably around 150 attendees for our wedding ceremony, but the actual ceremony itself–we want it as simple as possible. Standard non-religious introduction, statement of intentions (I do, I do), exchange rings, announcement of husband and wife, kiss, and then we all go eat. Nothing too extravagant, nothing fancy, just your basic, walk down the aisle, promises of love, kiss and done (and of course all the underlying paper work to make it really official).
So all that being said–what kind of price range would I be looking for if I wanted to plan out my budget? This would be for late-September in Flushing, NY.
If you could provide recommended officiants and/or prices to expect, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance bees!
