I don’t know where you are located, but we are in the US. We watched Macy’s until they were running a big suit sale. My fiance went in and picked out the suit he liked best that was the most reasonable. We went to the counter and told them we were ordering for a wedding and he knocked an additional 10% off the sale price. I opened up a Macy’s card and got an extra $100 off the total as well. I paid for all of them and had the groomsmen just pay me back. Becuase I put them all on the card, I also got a $130 gift card from Macy’s star rewards or whatever. That will go to completing our registry after the wedding! For the jacket and the pants it was $160 each suit. And the groomsmen LOVE them! Two people have already worn the suits to meetings and weddings.

We did suits because even renting suits in our area was over $150, and they didn’t look good on anyone at all (fiance is 6’5″ as are 2 groomsmen). This way it was the same price, they got a suit that fits them and they can wear it after. My fiance was in a wedding last summer and the tux was $220 to rent, and it had to be returned.

FH’s groomsmen pressured him to got to a Men’s Warehouse because “it’s what you do” but they quickly learned that it was MUCH more expensive than they thought it would be (they thought $80-100) so we took them to H&M and for a complete suit and shirt it was about $120 and thye own it. However, they all have smaller builds and I’ve heard larger men can usually find suits there. I was at Target this last weekend and passed by the mens section and they have some nice ones there, too.

bluejaybride :  We used The Black Tux and loved them!

My SO had a disaster with Mens Wearhouse on a previous occassion, so we didnt want to go with them for a rental. My SO also has really broad shoulders and can be difficult to find something that fits well all over. The Black Tux was also cheaper than MW. I think his ran about $140 and the others were $100- $120.

The Black Tux has it set up so that you enter your regular clothes size and they will send you a trial outfit. We were close enough to a location that we went in to try it on, but the other groomsmen all did online and worked out great.

One groomsmen had lost a little weight and thought the size he recieved was too big a few days before the wedding, they overnighted a brand new size at no extra charge.

I am actually having mine just wear a white dress shirt, whatever gray slacks they have or can buy cheap somewhere and we bought suspenders and a bowtie for them. That is much cheaper than buying a whole suit. You could also have people rent it but sometimes you can find a suit for the same price as renting.

Here is the suspenders look I was inspired by:

Good luck

XxCharmedxgrlxx :  It all depends on the level of formality of the wedding. Great look for a more casual wedding.

We’re using The Groomsman Suit (https://www.thegroomsmansuit.com/), and we’ve been super impressed so far. The prices are generally cheaper than renting, the groomsmen get to keep their suits, the quality is good, and the company’s customer service has been fantastic (free exchanges if they get the wrong suit).

bluejaybride :  We looked at renting, but in the end the price was almost the same as if we had purchased.

We purchased very expensive wool navy suits, heavily discounted.  They were $600AUD to $200AUD.  We were just patient and kept an eye out until we found what we wanted for a good price.

We gifted the Groomsmen the suits, and their tie.  They had to pay for their alterations, purchase their own dress shirt (we told them which one to buy and it was cheap) and we just told them to wear any brown dress shoes and belt.

The guys loved their suits and most have worn again.  We did consider it a major part of their “gift” since they were very classic and good quality.

Darling Husband had a different suit, it was $800AUD + alterations, and he also had a different shirt (but the same white) however he had the same tie, to tie (hehe) it all in.
