I had a custom ring done by John Ephram of EJCollections on etsy and it was a wonderful experience!

Studio1040 has some amazing pieces and are great quality, she’s does custom work too. Overall I’d say her prices are very fair. If I were to work with anyone on etsy, she would be my first choice. Infact I’ve been chatting with her about possibly making a ring for my diamond. She’s great with answering all of your questions in a timely manner. Also, be upfront with her on what your budget is, unlike alot of custom jewelers, she’s willing to work with you.

Does it have to be Etsy?  I used Austin Moore (EarthArt Gem and Jewelry), who I found on custommade.com  His pieces are pretty unique but we found one I liked enough to be a jumping off point for my husband to design the ring with Austin and I love it.  It’s small and made of silver, so it cost under 1000.  I don’t know what your price range is, different people have different interpretations of ‘affordable’

Anyway the website has a lot of other artists as well, you might find one you like! (incidentally, Austin didn’t use paypal but it was some other online program for payment.  Forget what it was called but it worked fine and I got an immediate receipt, plus he responds quickly to any emails)

janishjewels is the absolute nicest ever! I have not personally ordered from her but I’ve followed her work and discussed at length what I would love, she has great reviews, beautiful work and awesome customer service.

I used ValeriaFineJewelry, https://www.etsy.com/listing/256043690/tulip-setting-ring-and-earrting?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=tulip%20ring&ref=sr_gallery_6 , but on a different website connecting makers with customers. I found and used ValeriaFineJewelry thru custommade.com , http://www.custommade.com/tulip-ring/by/valeriafinejewelry/ . I was about 95% satisfied when I saw my GF’s promise ring. When I saw the look on her face when she saw the ring, I was 100% satisfied. We did have some difficalty with the stone setter Lucas used which did cause a little delay, but I was allowing for 6 weeks on a custom project anyway. The fine finnishing of the ring did differ from the CAD renderings, but it was the ring I ordered. Just be aware of this fact when ordering from any maker that uses CAD. You should also ask to see real life pictures of those same rings they produced. Then judge for yourself if that is what you want. Also check all the maker’s policies. I will say that Lucas does stand behind his warrenty.PhotoGrid_1453950911009
