You know, I have bought probably 6 different pieces of shapewear over the years, but the only one I would ever recommend to someone is spanx.  they don’t feel as heavy and just do a much better job than the bargain brands!

I know that’s probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but after I did a major closet cleanout last spring, I actually threw away everything BUT my spanx.  I’ve had the same pair of spanx for 8 or 9 years.  Still looks good.  No elastic popping away, no seams busting out.

I guess you could go to Macy’s and just try on differing brands.  That’s the only way I’d buy that kind of stuff– once you settle on a style number, you can always check prices on Amazon before you buy.

The Assets brand is also made by Spanx and can be found at Target.  It’s much more affordable.

I got my first Spanx at Marshalls for 18 dollars. It was green, that’s why I guess it was so discounted – and I never care about the colour under dark clothes.

The second one was light beige, I bought it on Ebay for like.. half price. I honestly do not know anything better than spanx.
