For my engagement party, I emailed a bunch of photographers I liked and asked them for a quote on what I needed: 6hrs of coverage, digital photos on a DVD/online, and no photobook. Lots of photographers that usually charge $2500-4500 for a wedding package gave me quotes that were well below their going rate.

Several others declined or did not reply, and one tried to make me book them for my wedding as well (kindly rudely, actually), but it’s worth a shot!

Consider exactly what you would like from your photographer, and starts emailing to see what they price your package at. If you want a really budget photographer, email Ryerson’a or OCAD’s photography dept and ask if any recent grads to wedding photography.

We’re using Piper Studios in Woodbridge. They’re prices are really great and they’ll accommodate any budget. They’ve been around for I think 50 or 60 years so they’ve got a pretty good track record. we were quoted almost $7000 at other places and Piper gave us a huge package for $2700 which is more than your budget but we have them for over 12 hours so if you scale it down your requirements you should be able to work something out!! They have a website with pricing if you google them 🙂

I have a family friend who shoots weddings in Toronto, I think he is affordable, and he’s like the nicest guy ever. Google “Callum Pinkney photography”

I know exactly where you are coming from, it’s hard to find a good photographer in the right price range with the right style. The way I searched for photographers was by looking at photos of other weddings at my venue. That way I could visualize the style and then find their prices on their website. I think the recommendation above about emailing or contacting photographers with what you need will help. Packages are out there for a standard, but I have seen and heard that some will adjust based on your needs and requests.

What style of photography are you looking for? That will help with recommendations as well!

we’re using Melissa Miller – momentsbymelissamiller.com – if I remember correctly, our package is $2000 + taxes for 6 hours coverage. She’s out of Hamilton but was willing to travel to downtown Toronto when that was our potential venue and now she’s travelling to Vaughan for us.

I love http://olivephotography.4ormat.com/ she’s amazing! The only reason we didnt go with her was because she wasnt very experienced with Jewish weddings. Then I was obsessed with SCarlett O Neil but she wasnt available on our date. They ar eboth incredible and reasonably priced.

We have a fine art photographer who we paid $5500 for. These two ar emuch less and have incredible work. I promise.

I understand trying to find something reasonable but photography is the wrong place to sav emoney. Trust me. We already went through one bad one because of proce and it really cost us.

SummerBride2015: http://imagesinternational.ca/ That is the company we went with. I find they are the most affordable for what you get. Their packages are customazable, and they are husband and wife who contract different photographers who will pick who goes to your wedding based on what you want. Emily (the wife) explained that they were able to be so affordable because they work out of their house (my fiancee and I had a meeting at their house which was kind of sketchy to me at first but Emily is so wonderful). If anything send them an email and see what they are able to do.

Try http://www.InAFlash.ca – Julie is amazing – she’s super frugal and very friendly, the guests were raving about how she always got them to smile and took awesome shots! Bonus: she’s got a newborn studio as well 😛
