I am looking for a place in new england (mass, maine, new hampahire, rhode island or connecticut) that I can have a small wedding with mostly DIY and BYOB ….a park near the water or an inexpensive barn to rent? Anyone have any ideas? We wanna have a nice time with our friends and family but would rather spend the bulk of our savings on an epic honeymoon and down payment on a house. Any and all suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! Look to keep our budget under $5000 with approx 75-100 guests.

New England is a gorgeous place for a wedding, but mostly because of the variety of landscapes: oceans, lakes, woods, cities… What’s your personality like? Do you have a vision? Even every state feels significantly different. What’s your connection to New England? It’s very hard to make suggestions with such little information.
My fiance and I are having an intimate ceremony in the mountains in southern New Hampshire, then we’re jumping the boarder and having a picnic/party reception at his parent’s house. It all depends on what you’re looking for…

You may want to move this to the New England local boards for more feedback.
A few venues in Mass that might work for you are Friendly Crossways, the Essex Conference Center and Retreat, or Camp Kiwanee. Also look for the group “DIY Brides Boston” on Facebook and post your question there – those lovely ladies might be able to help you out.
