I would check out the Grand in Long Beach,  or the Petroleum Club in Long Beach. Both have options for under $50 a person!

You can check with Temescal Gateway park.  It’s a public park, but you pay a fee and reserve the area for the ceremony and get the hall for the reception.

I think it’s about 2500 to rsv the site, but everything else is DIY or get it done though another vendor. My coordinator has great rapport with a caterer and rental company who give her clients a great deals.

How many guests are you having?

I booked the betty h. reckas cultural center in long beach/belmont shore-ish area. you can byob, and that saves lots of $$$. there is also no rental fee, but the caterer is exclusive so you HAVE to use them. the contact for the venue is a little tough to get a hold of so you have to be persistent. they don’t have a website, you have to go through http://www.herecomestheguide.com. the catering site is http://www.tgiscatering.com. good luck!

Simons waterfront Banquet Hall is reasonable.

I heard the Reef restaurant is pretty reasonable.  How about MOLAA or the Long Beach Musuem of Art? How about the CSULB Japanese Garden? How about the Grand? How about El Dorado Park?

along with Simons Waterfront, there is also the Port’s O’call Restaurant in downtown waterfront San Pedro. However….i don’t recommend for an evening reception.  It gets kind of chaotic there at night and its not in the safest location.

My friend is getting married at the Redondo Beach Historic Library, and it seems pretty affordable as well as beautiful! Not sure if that’s too far from where you wanna be but it’s near/in LA.

I totally had the same problem!  I tried what felt like every possible reception venue in Long Beach and Lakewood!  I ended up booking the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne.  It’s about 20 minutes up the 405 from Long Beach so it was a compromise, but when compared to the Reef and the LBMoA I feel like I’m getting a steal.  Their wedding packages run from $50-$65/person for dinner ($30-45/person for lunch, I think) and include most of the basics like a champagne toast, chair covers, the cake, etc. depending on the package you pick.  Deanna, the catering director, is a fabulous person to work with!  Very prompt in responding to all my phone calls and emails.
