I do not live in new York but when I was looking for mine in southern California I just basically went around to different bakeries to ask. That is a lot of work and time and if you do not have it then definitely you can at least call different bakeries because they do not usually quote or have menus available on Yelp and websites. Wedding cake pricing is usually specialized and needs to be inquired.

You can also think about nontraditional options people tend to do now if you are looking to be more on a budget side such as cupcakes or cake pops. Some people even just use a display cake and serve sheet cake instead.

Good luck

waves56 :  I live in Astoria, Queens right above Omonia Cafe. Their claim to fame is that they made the cake from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, lol. Not sure about pricing, but I would imagine it would probably be cheaper than in Manhattan. Worth a try!

To keep costs down get a small tiered cake for display and larger sheet cakes for slicing… they’ll taste the same! Also the that the more elaborate your cake design the pricier it will be.

Try contacting Ladybird Bakery (Brooklyn) or Baked (Brooklyn and Manhattan locations). They both quoted me fees under $10/ person for 1 two layer display cake + a larger sheet or round cake for slicing.
