Im having the difficult time of planning in Austin while I live in Houston. Im originally from Austin so I dont have to many problems finding stuff but trying to find a good wedding cake seems to be where Im getting stuck.
Im looking for an affordable wedding cake baker that could make a wedding cake for about 150 people. I had sent a picture of a cake to one baker already and she gave me a quote of $750 and in my opinion I thought that was a little ridiculous.
So if anyone had any suggestions, pictures, or pricing they paid it would be greatly appreciated

@jramon06: I shopped around and compared to what I found, $750 actually seems like a good price. Sad, I know.

To keep our cake budget within our whelm of reason, we are having a nice little one-tier cutting cake made, and ordering sheet cakes for the guests. The cake isn’t one of our reception focal points, so it was an easy decision to make. Just a suggestion!

I am emailing Austin bakers now. I have not seen a custom/tiered wedding cake for less than $3.25/slice for basic buttercream and non-upgraded flavors, more for fancy decoration, fillings etc. That’d be $485 for your guests, I guess.
Russell’s, Upper Crust, and a few others should be able to do it for less than $750, though! The custom/boutique wedding-cake-only shops are the really pricy ones.
(That’s why we’re going with non-tiered, even more basic cakes, one round and the rest sheet cake, probably from Wheatsville or Upper Crust.)
