Yay! My first post!
I’m getting married next June in Marin (Ross, CA) and am looking for a photographer. I am also on a budget. I am also completely overwhelmed.
I know there’s already old threads on this, but they are 4-5 years old so prices and photogs’ websites may not be up to date anymore. I’d love to hear any recommendations of wedding photographers others have worked with.
And here’s what I’m looking for in terms of “affordable.”
-3K…maybe up to 4K if it’s someone really fabulous, but I should really try to stick to the 3K budget.
-6-8 hours coverage, and price should cover at the minimum all digital images (I’m ok with printing what I want and buying an album ala carte)
-preferably 2 photogs for this price (that’s where I’m willing to stretch a little past budget)
Thanks in advance!

MsShopaholik: Sorry, I meant to tag you so you’d know someone responded.
I can’t personally recommend the above photographers, but the people who recommended them to me are both normal — not crazy spenders. 😀

MsShopaholik: This guy: http://www.cmc-photo.com. I haven’t personally hired him, but if I had a photography budget, I would in a second! He sounds like a dream to work with and his creativity is amazing!

http://www.onelove-photographer.com is our photographer and they also have a northern California office. For what we got (9 hours of photography, an engagement shoot, 2 photographers and a photography coordinator, and all printing rights) They’re a bit out of your budget, but they were willing to work with us. So if you cut out an engagement shoot and minimize hours, it could be right up your alley! Hope this helps.

Try Eli Pitta Photography, too. He’s ours and super reasonable and will customize a package to you. Super nice guy. He’s out of Pleasanton but he travels.

MsShopaholik: we went with Monica Roy and she was superb to work with , I can’t say enough good things about her (and I’m not usually effusive with praise I swear). she had us do an online questionnaire to see what we were like to tailor specific photographic preferences, she got us our sneak preview that very same night (!!! No waiting 9 months for it or other BS like that), and I kid you not every single one of our pictures made us look great! Her blog is http://monicaroy.com/blog/

MsShopaholik: Our photographers seem within your budget and also include an engagement session in several packages! We had 2 photographers (they’re a married couple and absolutely wonderful people) and I believe 7 hours of shooting the day of for about $3800 I believe. They use natural light only and have a fresh but rustic feeling, and I couldn’t be happier. Our engagement photos are beautiful and I can’t wait for the wedding photos from last weekend! Here’s their website: http://www.sunandlifephotography.com
ETA: Within your “stretch” budget, but seem to meet all other requirements 🙂

We hired Kevin Block (http://www.kevinblockphotography.com/) for our wedding in Novemeber. We just finished our engagement photos yesterday and he and his wife (2nd photographer) are awesome.
