I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that we went with EAP!!! My Husband & I just got married a few weeks ago here in NYC & it was amazing. We had a tight budget (especially for NY)- and needed to pay for EVERYTHING for our wedding ourselves A-Z. We are both in our late 20’s so obviously budget was our biggest hurdle. I tried for about 6 months to plan everything on my own & am pretty proud of what we found & started to plan without outside help.. but the time came when finding every vendor to fit our budget, figure out every little detail & manage everything while working a very demanding job – became too much. As you all know planning a wedding takes on its own LIFE – & I wanted my life back (to some degree). I found EAP through these wedding boards & met with Christine. I immediately started to breath again. She knew exactly what we were going though, and knew that everything would be figured out WITHIN our budget & we could stop freaking out. We hired EAP with the “Partial Planning Package” since we had already secured our venue & some other big pieces. For the past 8 months we have sent countless emails to each other, she’s been to my apt multiple times, she has managed our to do lists, budgets, vendors, contracts, ect. Granted I still had stuff to do on my end, but now I had my own personal Google for all my wedding needs. I could ask her anything & everything & she knew what to do or which vendor to use.rnrnBut then came our wedding day. May 28th 2011…he day we had been waiting for & working toward forever. rnrnI can tell you brides out there – honestly – YOU NEED TO HAVE A DAY OF COORDINATOR. I dont care WHAT your budget is – you HAVE to make it a priority. Because in doing so, you make YOURSELF a priority. You give yourself the gift of a NO stress day – a day full of love & laughter that YOU can actually enjoy. EAP will make sure that everything in the background runs smoothly so you dont have to even think about it. Christine & her staff will come fully prepared with everything you could POSSIBLY need for the day (in my case that meant a steamer for last minute dress touch ups – Phew). They will also take charge & manage everyone (including bmaids, mothers etc). They will make sure you eat, drink etc so you dont pass out (bc you WILL forget to eat!).They will be there ALL day – for your every need. I promise you – you will not be disappointed. I can honestly say it was worth EVERY penny.rnrnHappy Planning!

I usually work with people on a budget, and I can definitely see how a $20,000 fee can be seen as expensive.  Try Wedding Wire and meet with different vendors… I am pretty sure you can find vendors that are more affordable than than. Read their reviews, and see what you are willing to compromise.  Wedding planners should not charge you for an initial consultation.

Check out the plans that I personally offer at http://www.knotbythesea.com/wedding-planning/ if you would like to as well.

Don’t give up, you will find a more affordable planner without compromising quality.

I have read all the reviews on here and don’t see anyone posting what they paid for DOC services. As a bride myself, I know that one of the most important aspects I looked at when booking every vendor was how much money their contract would eat out of my budget. I emailed some of the vendors mentioned in this post and am waiting for their price list to come back to me and will then post a follow up so that brides know the real deal! Reading reviews and knowing the price is what we all really want, so I have decided to share it with everyone.

In regards to my DOC needs, I was dishearted after getting quotes of 1,000+ from several places. My best friend and Maid/Matron of Honor came to the rescue as usual. She was a bridesmaid at a wedding and referred Nina from Elegant Events by Nina. From what my Girlfriend told me, she is exactly what I need. What I was most impressed with is that my girl was the only one in the wedding party not spending the $80.00 to get her hair done by the stylist. Therefore, Nina took the time to elegantly french braid her hair. Her hair would have looked great if it was just left straight but the french braid gave her that little something extra needed to not look out of place with all the other bridesmaids who were getting their hair professionally done. The ‘do’ only took 15 minutes and saved the day for one of the bridesmaids. That story alone made me want to hire her; the other inside knowledge given to me about her services that day simply sealed the deal.

After emailing her at [email protected], the price quote was $650 for day of wedding coordination. I booked her immediately and will also keep you updated on how everyting turned out. So far its better than I expected.

UPDATE on PRICES

Equisite Affairs Production (EAP) Cheapest Price was $750 but the discount cuts down the time to only 5 hours. For 8 hours the price is $1,000 so they charge more than the other two for less hours

Unruffled Bride: Price was $800 for 12 hours

Elegant Events by Nina: $650 for 12 hours

I worked as a bridal attendant and events captain for years at a reputable wedding venue in NY. I currently work in TV production which is all about keeping schedules, making sure vendors deliver on their services, and staying on task. If brides are interested, I am looking for weddings to coordinate the day of the event for Summer 2014 through the Fall of 2014.

If anyone in NYC and the surrounding areas is interested, please message me.

So many great suggestions here, I’ll keep it going. I’m thinking of having Kate Edmonds, she seems very classy and knowledgeable. I think she’s British because she drinks tea in the afternoon. Has anyone here used her?

I would recommend Katherine with Kat Mack Weddings & Events.

http://www.katmackevents.com

She has worked with quite a few people I know and is great with budgets and creativity.   She’s creative and thinks outside the box.  Most important, she made the wedding all about the bride and did everything she could to make all the brides happy!
