Soooooooooooooooo we’ve been married for a month and 3 days now and I’ve never had the opportunity to refer to him as my husband. Can you believe it? I have called him by his name and that’s it. But yesterday I introduced him to some people for the first time and I heard myself saying (without reservation and very calmly) “This is my husband ___________.” I shocked myself…who is this lady with a husband? ME!!! WOW….I thought I was almost over the shock, but I guess not.
How did you feel/will you feel when you said the word for the first time or actually got to introduce him as such?

Lol, you’re so funny!
It’s been well over a month now for us too, but I still kind of surprise myself when I introduce my guy as my husband.
We went to a party not too long ago and my mom introduced Darling Husband as her son-in-law. That was a first for her and she looked like she wanted to cry and just said, “That was weird…that’s the first time I’ve had to say that!”

@CaraMia10: LOL…poor mom. My mom and Mother-In-Law have been calling us son and daughter from the beginning. I think that they get a kick out of it. It’s kind of funny.

I had someone laughing hysterically the first time I said it, because my face just had this enormous, cheesy grin – I still get that grin from time to time

My husband laughed at me the first time I said it.
We were at the airport going on our honeymoon (2 weeks post wedding) and he was in line about 20feet away from me when an old lady was asking me about our trip. when I got back to my hubby he couldn’t stop laughing and making fun of me of how unnatural it was for me to say it! LOL

@Dragonsus: LOL..the grin is priceless. I think it’s cute , because Hubby gets that grin everytime I show him something with my new name on it 🙂
@FMM: LOL…wow…did that make it worse that he laughed at you?

Haha. The first time I had the opportunity, I called him fiance. My friend elbowed me and was like “Psst. He’s not your fiance.” It was a really surreal moment.

@PrncssDva: No I just laughed with him – we are constantly poking fun at each other! It was hilarious.
I am 3 months out and I still find it weird. So I have started calling him hubby and husband at home so I can get used to it.

@zippylef: LOL…yeah your aha moment. I have those all of the time.
@FMM: Ok glad that you were ok with it 🙂 I just try to avoid having to call him that. I have been getting away with just saying his first name until yesterday, lol

LOL I was at my reception talking to my best friend/ Maid/Matron of Honor and she said “Your husband wants you.” I almost started to say he isn’t my husband but then thought oh yea, he is! It was very surreal.

Haha Mr. Socks was in the grocery store the other day, and said “This is for my girlfriend. Oh! I mean fiance!” <facepalm> “Sorry…my wife, my wife! It’s for my wife.”
Other than that little slip, we made the transition quite well into saying “husband” and “wife!”

I have not had the opportunity to say husband yet, but I am really looking forward to it! Although for some reason I feel pretentious when I use “fiance,” weird!
@mssocks: LOL i would’ve been cracking up! Men are so cute!

I’m married 4+ months and it still feels weird to call my husband my husband. I don’t think I’ve said it a single time when it’s felt completely natural. Sometimes I practice at home: I’ll say, “Hi, husband,” and he’ll say, “Hi wife.” Those words still give me a thrill, but they aren’t yet second nature.
