Hi.  I have not had kids, but I worked on a pregnancy research study.  One question we asked mom in interviews at the 6 month mark is whether they had become pregnant and then in follow-up if they still were.  Many more moms than you would expect became pregnant again, right after baby 1, because they thought they were safe and didn’t need to use birth control (particularly if breast feeding).  You aren’t.  Most of them terminated their pregnancies.

I haven’t given it a ton of thought, but probably condoms at first. Eventually I’d like to get back to charting and then just condoms/abstinence while I’m fertile.

After my first, I had the Mirena IUD, which I really liked.  I had my second baby in March, and since we know we want to try again soon, we’re using FAM/abstinence, at the moment.  Probably after we have our next child, I’ll get another IUD.

We won’t be using birth control in hopes that we will be having another fairly soon after this one. We hope to wait until LO is about 6 months and I’ll chart to avoid any mishaps. We have never really used any birth control methods besides POM. :-/

We’re still TTC, but I never want to go back on hormonal birth control.  I used to have perfect cycles, and in 4 months off it I haven’t had a normal cycle yet.  After we have baby #1 if I can keep up with temping we’ll do that and use VCF (spermicide film) or maybe condoms (although I dislike them) for the dangerous days. After baby #2 Darling Husband will get a vasectomy.  We agreed that if I have to go through childbirth, he can do the vasectomy.

Probably getting an IUD.  I got pregnant on the pill, so won’t be doing that again.

i got the Implanon after i had LO, i really like it and love the fact that it lasts 3 years even though we might take it out next year to try for a little baby sister/brother for LO.

My LO is 8 weeks tomorrow and I’ll be getting Mirena in a couple of weeks.  We want to wait at least two to three years if we decide to have another one so it seems like the best option.

I don’t know yet but I don’t think it will be the pill. I was on it for years and it caused all kinds of issues for me.  The biggest was that it messed up my natural balance of bacteria/yeast and I would get crazy yeast infections followed by bacterial infections in cycles. As soon as I stopped taking them, it stopped.  We were using POM for a few years so we might go back to that, or condoms. We’ll see I guess. I know I won’t want to get pregnant again immediately so something.

Not pregnant yet, but considering how long we have been trying (15 cycles) if I happen to finally get pregnant, I won’t go on any birth control anytime soon after the birth. If we happen to get pregnant a second time soon after that would be fine, after stuggling to conceive I will take what I can when I can! However when our family is complete, Darling Husband will get snipped!

i have irregular periods so that in of itself makes it hard to know when i’m ovulating…but i hated being on birth control and i’d rather not go back on it…so for now, we’ve discussed charting as i didn’t do it before this pregnancy….and then try to refrain from sex during ovulation…i think though that when we decide we want to get pregnant again, i’ll just stop charting because i kind of liked being surprised by this pregnancy and hope to be surprised again the second time around….just don’t want that surprise to happen within 2 years of having this first one! lol 🙂

Not pregnant now, but I would probably just go back on the pill, which I’ve never had a problem with.  After we’re done having kids altogether, my husband will get a vasectomy.

I had been on hormonal bc for over a decade, so I thought about going back on after we have our baby, however… I want to breastfeed.  So, we’ll do what we did for the year leading up to TTC- charting to avoid plus condoms.  I like the way I feel without hormones in my system, and if we do want to try for another baby later I’d like to not have to let my body regulate after bc again.

My LO is 7 weeks and my Darling Husband and I decided not use use any sort of BC or other prevention techniques. It took a while for me to get pregnant the first time so anything else will be a welcome surprise! In a few months we’ll be actively ttc.
