(Closed) After baby, what will you do about birth control? (with poll!)

I'm going on the pill, patch, or getting an IUD.

We'll be using condoms or other "barrier" methods.

We'll be using natural family planning and a barrier during fertile days.

We'll be using natural family planning and abstinence during fertile days.

Absolutely nothing, whatever happens will happen!

We'll be trying to get pregnant again ASAP or within a few months!

We'll use the pull out method.

He will get a vascetomy or I will get my tubes tied.

I have not even thought about this yet.

Condoms until we TTC for no 2! 🙂 Then condoms forever haha.

The pill makes me sick – I’ve tried so many, and I don’t want another coil.

We won’t be using anything. Birth control is useless for me; I don’t get pregnant naturally, apparently. If all goes well with this pregnancy, we’ll just let whatever happens, happen. I very much doubt giving birth will somehow make me ovulate, magically – but we have frozen embryos from our IVF cycle that we’ll be transferring as soon as we are ready to give it another go. 🙂

We’ll probably go back to condoms for a while. I avoided hormonal birth control prior to pregnancy as I used to get pretty bad migraines every 2 weeks as it was. Luckily they’ve nearly vanished since getting pregnant. The same thing happened with my mother and they never came back, so I’m hoping it’ll be the same for me. If the migraines don’t come back then I might try the mirena – hopefully the hormone dose is low enough to not trigger migraines and lighter periods would be awesome!

Well, it took us 7 cycles to get pregnant, but I’ve heard once you get preggers it’s very easy to get pregnant again. So… I’m thinking of having some birth control method. We did the pull out method for 8 yrs. And it worked!!! But we’re pregnant now and I worry about it being easy then. I really only want 1 baby, bad back here. Just 1 is good for us.

I can’t imagine having sex right now. lol. But when we do I suppose we’ll use condoms, which is what we did pre-TTC.

After baby #1 is born, I won’t go on birth control again.  Right now I’m thinking I’d like to get pregnant again soon after our little one arrives, but depending on how DH and I feel in the moment we may wait longer.  If we decide to wait a bit, we’ll use natural family planning with barriers during my fertile window.  After that, well, I haven’t thought that far ahead yet 🙂

I plan on a copper IUD.  I’m pregnant with #1 and we don’t know if/when/how many more we want.  I do know that I’ll wait at least a year – 18 months to get pregnant again, for both our sakes, if we decide to have more.

I got the Skyla IUD 9 weeks PP and while the spotting is annoying as hell, it’s still better than the pill. I’m BFing so I couldn’t do the combo pill even if I wanted to. And it’s so nice to not have to worry about taking a pill every day. We’ll wait about 2 years to try again and after our 2nd, DH is getting a vasectomy. I like that if we were to move up our timeline for some reason (I don’t see it happening but whatever) I could just go get the IUD out and we’d be able to start trying right away.
