Are you not taking family pictures immediately after the ceremony?

If not, then yes, I would say that you could sneak off with your groom & allow for about 5-10 minutes for people to exit, then come out.

Many churches have a room off the vestibule where the wedding party can go after they exit the church.

Someone else can organize the guests outside the venue for your exit. Don’t keep them waiting too long.

We did our send off after the reception

DH and I went through and dismissed each row after the ceremony (made sure we could thank everyone for coming that way and give lots of hugs) and then the bridal party helped organize everyone outside and we did an exit there.  Then ppl were dismissed to the reception hall for drinks and treats while we did a fast photo session. We did a sparkler exit after the reception as well.
