Hey Newport Brides!! My wedding is next June in Portsmouth (the Glen Manor) and most guests are staying in the downtown Newport area. I am searching for a place to have an after party (reception ends at 11), but it is getting pretty tough! I am expecting that unwards of 50 people will want to come out after the wedding– we have a young and vivacious crowd.
Does anyone have any idea of places that will let you reserve space for many people, stay open to accomodate a private party, etc.? I am thinking that just winging it with all those people downtown will be a nightmare, but I could be wrong. Past experience from brides welcome!!!

Aww I’m from Portsmouth 🙂 and lived in Newport for years (throughout college and a year afterwards) I’m getting married at Glen Manor as well! We always have a work holiday party at Speak Easy which is right on Thames St. (great location) in Newport. However, summer is Newport’s busy season and I believe it will be extremely pricey to rent a place. Additionally, a place might make you rent it for the whole evening because I don’t know how they would make everyone leave by 11 to get ready for your private party. Another great place to go is Blue’s Cafe because they always have live music and I know they host parties as well. If you call those places, I’m sure they can give you more advice. Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions on the area 🙂

@ChelseaV: Did you end up coming up with anything? I have the same concerns about bringing guests downtown for some fun after my September wedding!

My bff is thinking about Newport Beach Hotel and Suites. You can rent out the roof top fire pit and hot tub so we are having the wedding party all stay at the hotel and reserved the roof top for after party. Kinda boring but I was already married and I know how tied I was from getting up at 6am to get ready. I was ready for bed by the end of the wedding.
