Hotel bars in the area all depend on what kind of price range you are talking. The Viceroy Hotel has a great bar around the pool that’s a fantastic setting,  but it’s pretty pricey and there can sometimes be lines.

The Huntley Hotel on the top floor is a great view- you should check into how late they are open (not sure when your wedding ends)

The Fairmont Miramar, The Casa Del Mar, Lowes and Shutters all have hotel bars that are very nice and chic- The Lowes has a fun vibe you might like.

Other fun bars in the area to look up would be Hidden, The Parlor, South and the more casual bars in the Main Street area.

All the suggestions above are excellent, I would definitely check out the Huntley Hotel!

ginabean did a great job of covering most places in SM!! if you want to stick with the hotel bar idea – also check out the Sheraton Delfina. It’s not super trendy and upper crust (like the hotels that line Ocean Avenue – adjacent to the sea)… the Sheraton is a few blocks away and would be more low key, less crowded, possibly cheaper (?). Just another option to throw out there! Good luck!

Agreed with Carly- the Delfina was remodeled last year, and it’s very nice, but not as trendy, so you may find it easier for everyone to gather at, and drinks would def be less pricey.

Great recs so far. A few more…

Enterprise Fish Co has a great patio/bar. They are calling it a lounge these days and they even bring in a dj. It’s pretty big.

O’Brien’s pub and Finn McCool’s are both pretty big.

Mariasol on the end of the pier has pretty good margaritas and a great view.

And another hotel you might check out is the Georgian on Ocean Ave.

Less than a 10-minute drive south of Santa Monica, at the Marriott in Marina del Rey, is a hidden little gem called Glow Bar. It’s a hip, upscale, laidback outdoor lounge with a cool fireplace and great dj (at least on the night I went). The whole place is filled with cozy couches and there are private cabanas you can reserve. They also serve tasty appetizers if you get the munchies.

Hi, also wanting to after party in Santa Monica area and recently visited the Huntley Penthouse. Great lounge, but I’d like to dance which is not an option. Any more recommendations for an upscale place with dancing? Thanks!

Great suggestions! If you wanted to go a little further east, The Backyard at The W in Westwood is gorgeous. I’ve worked with them several times for different events and they are generally nice and accomodating.  You cannot beat the atmosphere – it’s as if you are at a destination wedding.
