We had an after party at the bar of the hotel where our Out of Town guests stayed at.  The bar closed at 1 a.m. and the party reportedly was moved to a hotel room. I was so tired by the time we got to the bar, I hardly made it through the drink someone bought me with my eyes open. But our guests enjoyed the after party. Some of the stories I heard the next day were legendary.

We thought we’d have one but left it informal. The reception ended at 11:30 and there was a 30 minute bus ride to the hotel. The bus tride was fun, it was our after party. About 10 of the guests went out for food and then hung out in a room as the hotel bar was already closed but Darling Husband and I went to bed. Ultimately, our reception was 7 hours long and I think that was better than an afterparty. The first hotel we booked had a DJ and danceclub in their bar on Sat. so we had planned to have the afterparty there but the hotel flooded and we could not find another one with such an atmosphere which is why I say it was left informal.

we are also having an informal get together in the hotel bar where Out of Town guests are staying.  I’m not sure how many people will go – mostly the younger guests I’d imagine.  The reception ends at 11:30 and the bar closes at 2am so that should be enough time for people to hang out more.

We had ours at the hotel bar, and my sister is doing the same.  It’s great because people can go upstairs to their room and get changed if they want.  And then people kind of come and go.  It was a ton of fun.

we are having a break between our afternoon reception (ends at 4pm) and journeying out to the after party (ferry arrives at 6ish, will be making at least 2 trips), allowing guests an opportunity to change, grab stuff they may want need as well as eat (though there will be food out there too).

There will be 20-25 people at our afterparty (maybe less), and it is an all night/overnight event held on a family owned private island with the transportation being provided for the guests.

What can I say, we all like camping and bonfires and loud music. We are young and hip like that 😛

eta: I cannot see us wanting the reception to go longer, or regretting it later. it is a fairly short (about 2.5hours) tea/late lunch reception, no dancing, no alcohol, lots and lots of family. My partner & I are looking forward to going out with OUR friends, relaxing, lauging, having a good time and decompressing after the huge day.
