First of all, I really admire you ladies who can try on five dresses and know which one is yours and be done with it. That was not my experience. From 150-ish dresses, I *think* I’ve narrowed it down to the following. Please vote on your favorite and if you don’t mind in the comments tell me which is your least favorite and why!
1. David’s Bridal Oleg Cassini Ballgown-CT258
I think this dress fit well and is flattering, and I love the sparkle and the organza skirt. I think the waist may hit me in a weird spot though and it might look kind of like a prom dress? If I get the petite version that may help with the waist since I’m only 5’0. Also, does anyone have any suggestions of other sparkly satin bodice gowns I could consider?
2. David’s Bridal Oleg Cassini Off Shoulder Lace Dress- CWG533
This dress is kind of tied with another one that makes me so happy when I see it on myself. I just love it. However, I’m pretty sure I want a ball gown/a-line type dress. Not sure how flattering this is either. Plus even though there is a petite version of this, it’d prob still need to be hemmed and alterations will be expensive no matter where I take it. Here are pics with a belt and without a belt.
3. David’s Bridal White by Vera Wang huge poofy gown- VW351135
I did not like this gown at all when I first saw myself in the mirror, but now looking back at the picture I actually do like it. It’s a couple sizes too small so maybe that was my issue at first? Idk.
4. David’s Bridal Tulle Ruched Ballgown- MK3576
I really love this dress, and so does everyone else. Here it is pictured with a belt and without a belt. I want to wear a belt with it, but the seam on the waist and the area where the belt hits do not match up and that kind of bothers me. I think it looks good without a belt, but I’d really like to have some sparkle to the dress.
5. Justin Alexander’s “Sweetheart” line 6037
I love this dress. It kind of combines the rouching of the above dress with the waistline that is more flattering for a belt. I also love the fabric. Almost everyone that I’ve shown this pic HATES this dress though, so I’m wondering what they are seeing that I’m not? This dress is two sizes too small, and I’d prob change the belt to a different color/style and the neckline to a slight sweetheart. I’m concerned that it looks like I’m swimming in fabric and that the waist looks too much like an “empire” waist and that I’d look pregnant. Maybe these issues would be rectified when its in the proper size?
6. Allure Romance 2765
This dress is so beautiful. I love the sparkly skirt. It kind of reminds me of Cinderella’s dress when it sparkles after it was transformed from rags to the ballgown. I think it prob shows way too much cleavage though, and maybe isn’t too flatter for my waist. This dress is the correct size and not sure if alterations could help. These pics are in super bad lighting but I do have a pic that shows the sparkle of the skirt. If anyone has pics of themselves in this dress please share!
There are a few that receive “honorable mention,” but this is all I am going to load for now. Please let me know what you think. Also, does anyone know of a dress that is similar to the MK3576 or JA6037 that has a beautiful sparkly skirt like the Allure 2765? Thanks for for your help ladies!
