As I am sure some of you are, I have been stressing about my wedding ‘face’ for over a year. The biggest problem was an age spot that suddenly appeared about 4 years ago and has progressively worsened! The tipping point was when a stranger walked up to me in a bar and said “ok, so are you going to get it or do I have to wipe that dirt off your face like your mother?”… OMG. what a jerk! but really, not the first time someone thought it was dirt, makeup, etc. and tried to wipe it off…. So…. I tried a lightening cream for months but it did NOTHING. Finally, I bit the bullet and called a cosmetic surgery center near me to see how much I would have to go into debt to get the thing lasered off. I suppose it depends on where you live, but when I told the receptionist that I only had one spot, she was like “Oh, that’ll only be $150”. I have to say, I was pretty relieved… I was imagining hundreds and hundreds!
I went for the appointment, and the doc was super nice. She told me what to expect, as far as pain and all, she said it would feel a bit like getting “snapped with a rubber band” and that there would be a bright light.
She was right. It hurt, but it happened so fast I recovered quickly! She did 4 or so ‘zaps’ and then it was done. She didn’t want to overdo it, and the place I chose will re-zap you for no additional charge!
So the dark spot on your face actually absorbs the majority of the laser, so the treatment is directed only at the spot. It basically ‘burns’ it off, and yeah, that’s kinda what it feels like for a few hours, a small burn. It turns dark for a couple days and flakes off on its own.
In the end, totally worth it!!! I am getting ready to go back for my free round two, but I am already super happy with the results. I am putting photos up, my apologies for the horrible close ups! (Additionally, the 2nd one is reversed because I just took it with my webcam)
If you are considering doing this for your wedding, go for it! Think about all the money you will save on lightening creams and concealer! : )
