SO and I ordered my ring online. The place has stores throughout my state, but has really competitive online prices. We can also return the center diamond as many times as we want until we are happy.
The only thing I’ve been reaaaally nervous about is the color. It’s an H, but EGL graded so who knows what. It’s other (EGL) specs are VS2, ideal, no fluro, 1.51 carat.
It’s also set in yellow gold so I’m hoping for a miracle that it’s not too warm colored. If it is, I’ll just have to send in and reorder. Sucks, but oh well
Anyways, they just sent me some photos and ugh, because of the flash it’s so hard to see the diamond color. I told her I was worried I saw really warm yellow and she said it was much prettier in person and she was surprised it wasn’t rated as a better color. She also said it was taken in a yellow room on a yellow stick finger. So I will just be dreaming/worrying until it comes!
Bees, any experience with EGL stones?

I don’t have experience with EGL stones but I do want to say that the ring is gorgeous! I think it’ll be beautiful in yellow gold, too!

@cls9q: honestly, that is a terrible picture, they are crazy to send that to a customer. I would be freaking out too if iwere yiu BUT i think it is just the quality of the photo. Fingers crossed! Maybe they can take a better one?

@cls9q: i wanted to clarify: beautiful ring, terrible quality picture

I’d ask them to take it in a different room so you can see it…and ditch the yellow on everything.

It looks beautiful. It really doesn’t look bad at all to me, but maybe I just have low standards. I can never even imagine having a ring that beautiful.

They sent the ring out overnight so those are the only photos I have (I have two more but they’re worse). Unfortunately I won’t see the ring until I’m in Florida on the 18th 🙁 They only charge sales tax if you ship to a state they have a store in (Tennessee and KY) so we took advantage of me actually being a florida resident!

The 18th will be here before you Know it! And under the florida sun it will look awesome!

@cls9q: it’s beautiful! I’m sure it won’t look warm in person!

So pretty!! I have an EGL stone (graded an E) and it looks bright white to me. I know what they say about GIA v. EGL, but meh. Every diamond is different. You just have to see it in person! Here is mine, just for fun (on a teapot, before it was set) 🙂
