Awwww maybe she just wants to make sure you found someone special.

Mr. KM warned me that his gma might not be able to keep me straight with his ex gf. We have the same coloring and this was only my 3rd time seeing her, but she remember that I’m from Atlanta! She’s like, 95 and is a little… forgetful…

My BF’s 13 year old niece (who generally wanted to spend most of dinner texting her friends) asked me as we were clearing up the dishes if he had proposed.  When I said “not yet”, she replied, “I think he will.  It will be so cool when you are my aunt.  We can go to the mall and stuff.”  I took it as a compliment.

HAHA, this is something I worry about – as I have already lost one grandma.  Anyways, when Boyfriend or Best Friend asked my dad for my hand, (and didn’t know my dad couldn’t keep a secret,) my grandma found out and was thrilled.  So, at least she is happy and knows that we will be getting married eventually!  I have yet to see her since she found out, so it will be interesting…

My grandmothers/ aunts are just going to cause drama at my wedding, so this question would make me say something like “Actually, I’m going to wait til AFTER”

Haha! That is horrible, but funny!!!! 🙂 My dad told my grandma the other day that my Fiance had asked my dad to marry me, and my grandma said “well, i guess i have to take care of myself for one more year” ! Grandparents crack me up!

Oh wow, my grandpa has said something in the same manner.  My dad passed away five years ago and he has said to me and my bf that we need to get married soon so he can walk me down the aisle.  Thing is though, as much as I want him to be there with me as a reminder of my dad, I kinda want my mom to be there by my side too.. Maybe they’ll both be there.  That is, of course, if the bf would hurry it up with the ring 😉

OH MY GOSH!  That’s so crazy!  I met my SO’s grandfather the night they went to tell him he had only a few weeks left.  I was with him when he passed…. the last time I saw him conscious he told me how happy he was to know me.  We showed his grandmother my ring last night.  She called it “odd” because it isn’t a plain solitaire on a thin yellow gold band.  lol.

My grandmother (who has a form of dementia) decided I got engaged about 18 months before I actually got engaged (we moved in together and somehow she couldn’t reconcile “not engaged” and “living together” in her head) – so she referred to my fiance as my fiance, my gentleman, my husband, etc. She would ask me about our wedding and I would simply tell her, “we’re not planning yet.”  (Oh, and once I got engaged?  She just said, “oh, I’m so glad the wedding is back on!”)

My standard line became “I’m getting married, just not yet.”  I was fairly certain that I would be married someday, so I was very comfortable saying this.  I think your response was great – what a guilt tripping question!  You could also just turn it around on her and say, “are you gonna die on me before I get married?”  Or just really irk her by saying, “I haven’t had a chance to buy him a ring yet!”
