I’ve got the baby rabies too.  I spoil the hell out of my niece and nephew and our friends’ babies to keep it at bay. We’re also looking at at least a year before TTC.

@MrsN14:  Can you babysit someone’s baby for a bit?  That’s what I do when I have baby fever and then, I realize, “I can’t wait a bit longer before having kids…”  and go have a glass of wine.  lol

I make my coworkers tell me about all the horror stories that come with having kids, that usually helps.

@MrsN14:  How is taking care of the twins?  Darling Husband is having serious baby fever.  He asks me every weekend if I’m ready to TTC and said he’d love it if we had twins.  lol  We’re planning for 4 kids.

watch some labour and delivery shows and babysit a lot. I still have baby rabies but i am content in waiting.  Because labour and delivery scares the hell out of me, and hanging around a newborn for 3 hours exhausts me enough to enjoy our married without baby life.

@MrsN14:  I’m with you! We’re getting married early next year, both 25 years old (will be 26 next year), and I won’t be finished college until the end of this year… I know we have plenty of time, but those babies rabies are killing me!

It doesn’t help that my Fiance says things like “I’d have a baby right now if you wanted to. I’m ready when you are!”

Ahh! We’ve been together for 7 years and living together for 2, so although marriage is the next big step, I really don’t think it will feel any different for us. Babies are what’s on my mind, not weddings… I wish I could make it stop!

@MrsN14:  Kids are fabulous, I won’t lie, so I understand the baby fever.  What about throwing yourself into planning something decidedly adults only?  Maybe a nice trip that wouldn’t be kid-friendly at a resort that leaves champagne in the rooms?

If you really love children, there are a lot of wonderful volunteer opportunities for people who just naturally gravitate towards them.  I know it’s not the same as having your own baby, but it could be really rewarding for you to be there for a child.  Even our women’s shelter nearby is always looking for people to play with the children, make up games, teach them to cook, etc.  Just might be a nice way, other than babysitting, to be around the cutest part of our population.
