So I am in the process of buying my reception dress for the wedding. I already have the following:
I think I am going to wear this for the cocktail hour (modern take on the qipao):
Going to put the first dress back on once the reception starts.
And now thinking of this Vera Wang for the end of the reception (first dress is a bit hot and hard to move in):
Am I crazy? Anyone else have multiple dresses? Maybe this will finally make me stop looking! Haha.

@Marquise123: Well.. as long as you can afford it and it’s not taking away from a more important goal (like owning a home etc.), you only get married once!

@canarydiamond: Actually all in cheaper than the first vera wang gemma i was originally considering! But perhaps I am being a bit splurgy.

Loving the back of the Vera Wang dress 🙂 Like throughthebarricades said, as long as you can afford this and comfortably live your life, three dresses sounds fine. Just no more lol.

@Marquise123: I say go for it 🙂

@Marquise123: you are not crazy at all!!! And other than the you only getting married once thing, you got them all for a pretty reasonable cost altogether!!!
im waiting for my third dress to arrive (3rd one ive bought and ive sold the first dress i bought) so maybe im abit biased lol (:
GORGEOUS DRESSES BTW!!!! Perfect choice for qipao (: im not chinese but have many chinese friends and i looooove this modern take on it (:

ohhh I love all these gowns!
I say go for it!
The only thing I would caution against is making sure you have enough time in them all to give them all their glory. I had a friend who changed dresses into a more comfy one like what you’re going for with the 3rd and ALL her guest photos and many of the reception photos are in that gown and its just kinda plain… way less wow-ing than the dress she had for the ceremony so I would recommend giving all the gowns lots of “time to shine” or just make sure your photogs are ON IT so you can get the best use of them all.
I love the idea!

Since you’re asking for opinions, I think it’s a bit much. Do you really want to spend that much time on your wedding day changing outfits?

This is what I was thinking, too.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I have to do 2 dresses no matter what (since one is cultural), btu i think the third one is really just so i can relax and dance. 😉 I will make sure to get lots of pics of each dress though – thanks for the advice!
I dont think it takes that much time to change into dresses? The first dress is clearly the hardest to get into, it has hooks and then zips, but the other two should take 2 seconds to slip into.

@Marquise123: That lace on that modern qipao is exquisite, my word. I am all for changing outfits on your wedding day, esp. if you want to change into something more comfortable. If you’re like me, then comfort and ease-of-movement are of paramount importance…so that you can dance the night away!
@mrs-evans: From my experience, when changing gowns/outfits is a part of your culture, time for the bride (and bridal party) to change is actually built into the schedule–or at least that’s how it’s been for my family’s culture. And it really only takes a few moments to change since your hair and makeup is already done. On the other hand, I do understand the general preference for only wearing one gown for the entire wedding.

Thanks everyone! I am really excited, I kinda get all three styles I’ve been looking at, bling, lace and silky. haha, this is what happens when you look at too many dresses!

love 1 and 2
3 looks like lingerie… I’d say if you want 3, do it… but I’d go fun flirty and short.
I had 3 dresses too- I only got to wear 2 becasue wearing the 3rd was just too much time taken away from socializing, dancing and drinking that I basically just forgot and enjoyed my night
gown 2 was much like your gown 2.
