So for the past 3 weeks I’ve probably applied to 30+ jobs. I haven’t really found pretty much any that I qualify for but I have applied anyway in hopes they get rid of the experience clause. (I just graduated in December, I would have started searching earlier but I thought we were moving in May…turns out we aren’t and I am not positive when/if we will). Anyway, I got an interview today (my first) scheduled for tomorrow morning. The problem is that I am not sure which job it is for!!!! I sort of saved all the jobs I applied for on a list but I cannot find this one. Since I work in the medical field, it is difficult to tell which job it is for anyway because half the jobs are posted originally by staffing agencies. I googled the clinic and I cannot get practically anything on it other than I think it might be primary care (which is what I really wanted and not a specialty) but I am not sure. Anyway, I don’t want to call the lady and be like….uhhh….which job is this for because I don’t want to seem super desperate although I am. Also, I haven’t interviewed for a job for 4 years now and I am freaking out. I am not exactly the most outgowing or quick thinking person so ahhhhhhhhhhhh. I am just excited though because I want to do well so bad so I can possibly get at least an offer. Wish me luck…I’m going to go look for an outfit now. 🙂

Good luck! The same thing happened to me with my current job, I wasn’t sure which ad it was with!

Good luck, Can you call the hiring manager and ask her to forward you a copy of the job description?

Congrats!! Best of luck tomorrow!
I’m not in the medical field, but in general, you should really know which position you’re interviewing for when you interview. Can you go through old e-mails or contact the staffing agency to figure it out?

Well….done with interview. Actually it lasted less than 15 minutes. Not really sure how to take that because I got really good vibes when I went. The lady said she had a few more people to interview and then she would be contacting me for second round interviews which are actually shadowing days. She asked me when I could do that so I am assuming that she wants to contact me but I have never had an interview that short…ever….so I don’t know.
Well, I shouldn’t say I’ve never had that short of an interview…I guess I have. Once I had one that they basically ended before it began (a few yrs ago). At that interview, they asked me my future goals and I said I was trying to go back to school for my masters and then they asked me about my schedule and told me it didn’t fit with them and they ended it.
Anyway, there was nothing bad about my interview today that I sould tell right off hand except maybe when she asked what salary I wanted. I told her that I was flexible and I didn’t have a set need but I had researched avg salaries for NP’s in tn and it was 86K. I told her I expected that it would be less than that though considering I am new to the field. I also said the benefits package would be important in my decision as to what I would want as well. She then asked me if I had any other interviews scheduled and I said one at 3pm. She said that she wanted to give me some advice. She said she has been doing this a long time and 80-85K is not unreasonable to ask for a new NP.
Anyway, so I guess if it comes up in this interview this afternoon I will respond with that. I hate talking salary in an interview though. I know my dad doesn’t even look at some applications if they put salaries too high. I mean, ugh, it really depends on the responsibilities-what one np does is not equal to another so until I learn more and have time to process the responsibilities I think it is weird to know right off hand. Ugh…anyway, hopefully this afternoons will last longer. I feel more successful then.

@Mrs.DBee: I found out which one it was…unfortunately I could not find much when I googled the company online. So it made it difficult to prepare still.

I’m glad it went well this morning — and good luck this afternoon! The salary thing is tricky for everyone, I promise.

@mija22: Well, my second interview ended up being better but the lady asked me where I applied and I said I thought it was simplyhighered or monster and she said that they actually didn’t have any full time positions that she was aware of at the time but would let the regional manager know to contact me. (I guess she does the highering for like 13 states). She told me simplyhighered compiles from a bunch of websites and it doesn’t actually mean that something was just posted there. It could have been from weeks earlier that the position was posted and no longer available. I believed her just because the interview had not even started on the phone before she told me this. Well, haven’t heard from her and haven’t heard from the other position either.
I’m so sick of the whole needs experience crap…because how am I suppose to get it if they won’t call you and/or higher you? Anyway, since I’ve applied for about 20 more positions. Got a call for another position I am not qualified for. In fact, once the lady asked me about my previous experience, it became appearent, but I think she felt like she owed it to me to give me an interview. So off to another interview tomorrow. I swear, I don’t know what I prefer more…not getting called or going to interviews and the person realizing I just graduated with no experience as soon as we start. I guess the interview practice is good but still…
