@pomegranate17:  we liked the gran Bahia in runaway bay Jamaica. Not sure if all their chain is the same or not, but I found it to be pretty low key, not a lot of crazy partying and definitely not catering specifically to kids. The palace resorts also have a variety of areas at the larger ones so you could do kid stuff or be at the quieter pool

@pomegranate17:  We went to Iberostar Laguna Azul in Varadero, Cuba (so it’s only okay if you’re not American… sorry!) and it was perfect. Certainly not adults only, but very few kids, which made it great. My brother and SIL brought my nephew when he was 3 months old, and they enjoyed themselves.

Melia Caribe in Punta Cana is pretty well balanced. They have a babysitting program and some kid-friendly amenities, but they’re definitely an adult-focused resort.

I don’t have any suggestions now, but definitely do a Beaches resort when you’re ready for the cookie monster vacations, they are unmatched when it comes to catering to kids! Sesame street parades everyday and the works.

@pomegranate17:  As a PP mentioned, Beaches Resorts allow children. I have friends who have been, and they didn’t find it solely catered to kids. I’m trying to remember which one they went to, but I’m drawing a blank at the moment. I know one side was dedicated to kids and the other wasn’t.

We stayed at the Grand Palladium in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Though we don’t have children, our friends do and went to the same resort and enjoyed themselves. It’s DEF not geared towards children, just family friendly. AND BEAUTIFUL!

All of the Dreams resorts (same family as Secrets) allow kids, so do the NOW resorts (again, same family as Secrets)- I have stayed at the Dreams Riviera Cancun, Dreams Puerto Vallarta and NOW Amber (in PV)- all allow kids (but kids programs would not be an option at that age)- but they were not running wild with kids.  We took our son at 6 months to NOW Amber, and will be taking him to Dreams PV in January (at 21 months) the staff loved him and were more than accommodating!
