I am having a destination wedding on the beach, and I just contacted the make up artist I’m considering using.
She offers traditional make up, or airbrush. She said the airbrush is the most popular with brides, but it kind of scares me, because I’ve never used it before. I will be arriving the day before the wedding, and will have no time for a trial.
Anyone have experience with airbrush make up? Tell me your pros and cons?

Ooo I’m curious to know as well. I dont have the $$ to pay for a trail and I really want airbrush (I think.) Do you know if most artists will make changes if you dont like colors they use or are you stuck with it???

@DBGolightly: I had a Destination Wedding in St Thomas and used airbrush makeup! I highly recomend it b/c it stays put really well and I wanted it for that reason.
I suggest having pics with you the day of so you and the makeup artist are on the same level. Also check out her work ahead of time….ask for her portfolio pics. Research and make sure you like the work ahead of time!!
This was right after airbrush before putting on the dress

I would really like some feedback from brides who used airbrush makeup and cried at their wedding. The reason is that I hear tears/water can create “tracks” in your makeup since it’s water-based, but they don’t do that to traditional makeup.

love Love LOVED my airbrush makeup! I have crappy, blotchy, acne-scarred skin and it looked FLAWLESS. I was shocked at how it turned out.
@toasty: I cried… like, a lot. When getting dressed, before/during my first-look (the photo above was taken soon after), during the ceremony. I never noticed any tracks or defect.

i paid for airbrush for myself and my bridesmaids. one of my bridesmaids and my sis in law both had airbrush for their weddings so they highly recommended it. it stays on the entire day and looks nice in pictures. the cons is it’s expensive so if you have nice skin then you might not need it.

@sheepandbear: I had airbrush for my Destination Wedding and LOVED it. I paid $125 for it(which included a trial the day before the wedding). I HIGHLY recommend a trial though. My MOA did a great job, but being able to wear it out the night before I was able to see what worked and didn’t work. Was able to tell that she needed to go a lil darker with my foundation on my wedding day(she went a lil too light and it was noticeable in pics I took that night with my camera). Also could see that I wanted my eyeliner to be more pronounced as well. As the night went on after the trial, it faded some.
The day of the wedding, I was able to tell her all this and she was able to adjust it to where it was just PERFECT. My makeup looked flawless in my pics and didn’t budge at all(liner didn’t fade this time as well). Only thing I had to reapply…was my lip gloss.
One thing I recommend….ask if she can include a lip gloss to reapply that you can keep. I totally forgot and luckily had one of my own that very closely matched what she had put on.

airbrush is the way to go! It makes you look flawless in pictures and it stays on much longer!

Mine ran during my trial/e -pics and streaked. But it was also like 99 degrees outside or hotter in AZ. I probably won’t go with that MUA now. It smudged so fast when Fiance and I were cheek to cheek in pics. This May
but head on you could not tell. The 1st pic was within 10 minutes of our session too
I did my own MU with a photog we decided not to go with… I loved it plus I was tan!! I think that helps me have more flawless skin but don’t tan anymore. Taken in 2011

When i was a bridesmaid at a friend’s wedding she paid for us all to get airbrush maekup. Hers looked great and stayed on well. Mine looked wierd because the MU picked wierd colors (not really her fault, I didn’t know better and she had just met me). The problem was that I must have been allergic to the airbrush makeup because it made me break out in small red bumps all over my face. So I’m definately going to buy my own make up so that I can test it beforehand.

I’m going to be having my trial tomorrow for hair and makeup. I am also having a destination wedding and am glad to have found someone who does airbrush as I have always wanted to try it. I have seen her portfolio and it looks good. Will post before and after pics tomorrow.

Waiting for my trial now.

@Stargaze31: Hope you like your trial. Make sure to take lots of pics. I thought my makeup looked great at first right after the trial, but it was looking at pics of myself that night that I could see that she did the foundation too light. I had my trial the day before the wedding(DW and I didn’t make any trips to Destin before the wedding) so I just told her the next day my concerns and she was able to fix them and it turned out flawless!

I have heard great things about airbrush makeup, and sounds like a good option
