I want to do the classic Fiance last name initial in a pretty script font with and add a little bit to it in order to make it look elegant, our names on either side, date at the bottom, and perhaps a simple decor around it.
However, I realized that just out of repect for my Fiance and that his family barely speaks English let alone reads it, and we are doing their invites in Greek and the venue had Greek speaking waitors, I thought it only proper to also do this monogram in Greek.
I am not sure how this should be done (BTW outside, beach front but not on the beach if that matters) What was is the monogram suppose to face anyway? Should I do it so the English one is facing the alter, to symbolize that I am walking down with a “English (really Italian) Last name still”, and then have the Greek one on the opposite side of that…however face away from the alter, symbolizing that when I walk that way I will be “Greek” so to say?? My only concern is the Greek lettering. It is hard to make it look script and nice. So the english version would look nice, and the greek side look kind of boxy.
My Fiance last name starts with a ‘G” but in Greek is gamma— click this to see what is looks like (left side i capital, right lower case…darn!)
Or should I do it side by side..one facing left, one facing right? I do not know what to do…any suggestions so people aren’t turning their heads in circles and all around to view it?
and I of course want to do “here comes the bride” at the start of the runner, but I think it’d be a bit much. Please help me figure this out… I am not a hard core DIYer, but with Greek letter I do not trust many unless they know they language..its difficult to write out and one little mistake can make a lower case sigma look like a lower case delta!
