We are technically having a Destination Wedding. So we are doing elaborate welcome bags (DIY) with awesome hangover kits, snacks, local information and door hangers and the bridal party are getting t-shirts. Also we are giving everyone either a boutonnière or hairpin (DIY) at the wedding.
The reception is at a restaurant and we are having an open bar of beer and wine. We were going to have a speciality drink but that was going to be another $9 a person so instead we extended the open bar another hour. (FI wanted to cut it off after two hours! And we’re paying so I figured the argument was one I didn’t want to have.)
I asked our venue if we could do a mini bottle for favors and they are ok with it. I was going to do mini’s of Jack Daniels (Our drink of choice) with labels with everyone’s name and table number.
I think it’s fantastic because in Vegas who really wants a favor that they have to take back to their room? This way everyone can enjoy their favor and not have to worry about lugging something around for the afterparty! And for us, $2 on a mini is way more practical than a $9 drink (we were going to a fancier version of a Manhattan or Cosmo).
What are your thoughts? How would you feel about this as a favor??? Thank you!

It sounds really cute. I’ve seen pics custom mini bottles (super cute!) or sometime paired with a little bottle of coke. I think it will go over well with everyone 🙂

That sounds like a great idea! I don’t think an alcohol favor would be left behind (and if it was you can bet I would be “that” guest walking around and taking them)!

I think its all about knowing your guests — are all of them non-drinkers? Any in AA (cause that would be bad!)? Otherwise, sure, why not!

@SuprMe: i didn’t think about the little coke! I wonder if we can do that at the reception. I actually didn’t think of that at all! we have an open bar and water, coffee and tea. I don’t think there’s soda at all! Need to check on that ASAP! Thanks!!!!!
@MrsBeck: haha, yeah. I already told my Fiance someone needs to be picking those up! But I doubt there will many unused if any!
@classyashley: haha that really made me lol. we do have a few non drinkers but I already ran it by them. And not non drinking because of AA. LoL that would be awkward!

I love this, would be even better with a bottle of coke. I would be tempted to pinch them off the non-drinkers.

I like it. I don’t drink jack but I’d give it to someone who would. We were going to do wine bottles but opted against it because we have a number of guests who are in recovery.

I like it, especially the custom labels. Go for it!

I like the idea, especially with the coke!

Love it! So cute. We are doing mini wine bottles and chocolate with custom labels as well!

Perfect. People can either have it after the open bar or slip it into their purse or suit pocket for later. It is great that your venue will allow booze favours.

I like it. I’d enjoy it much more than other favors I’ve received. We’re big on craft beer, so we’ll be relabeling craft beer with custom labels and making them our favors. The couple of minors that will be in attendance will get those mini martinelli ciders.

@vanike: I have one minor in attendance and I am still not sure what use for his card/favor? What is the martinelli cider???? He’s 16 and my brother, hence the reason we will have a minor there, lol. No one else is bringing their children to the reception.
@LLemonDifficult: I agree! I told my Fiance that we need to slip some in his coat pockets lol!
@Bubbles42: That’s a very valid reason to not do so! We put the idea out to our guests before we decided on it. The only people that were against it were people that aren’t even coming. I just wanted to make sure we weren’t doing something taboo 🙂

Personally I don’t drink. I wouldn’t complain about it being the favor but if I took it home it’d only be because I might know someone who would like it. Chances are I’d leave it. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind me leaving it because you could drink it in my place.

@greymonkey42: we thought about that also. The real favors are all the goodies in the welcome bags. We really didn’t want anyone to have to carry anything out you know? Ok sure some people will either leave or save the bottles tho. I know I will be saving mine! Also, I know even if people are drinkers they may not be whiskey fans. I hope its at least Memorable!
