What is going on with these churhces? 6 months pre-martial counseling and I must pay them a fee every month for this??! Not to mention all the ones where you have to be a member and are like $950! Does anyone know a church in south bend/mishawaka, indiana area, where we can get married without having to pay a fortune, and not have 6months of counseling??!!
Any replies back would be much appreciated.

If it was me getting married there, there is only one church to chose from – the Basilica at Notre Dame (sigh). We live in CA though.
I would highly recommend asking the potential venues that you are looking at for your reception to see if they have any recommendations. Where are you planning on having your reception?

We opted for the Basilica, which I believe is the church you were describing not wanting to get married at, but other Catholic churches I enjoyed attending mass at in the area at St. Pius X in Granger (it is HUGE so it will depend on your guest list whether it’s a good fit or just crazy) and Little Flower in South Bend (near martins). I also found the United Church of Christ (not to be confused with Church of Christ) on Jefferson to be very welcoming.
