Has anyone heard of the All Clad d5 Stainless Steel 4 qt SAUTE/SIMMER pan? It’s exclusive to Williams Sonoma and is described as a great do-it-all pan and it’s MUCH cheaper than their 4qt saute pan. I’m tempted to take our fry pan and saute pan off of our registry and put the one much more affordable option on. But, I’ve never seen or heard of this pan and I’m wondering what the drawbacks could be. Here’s the link:

i used to sell cookware and i think it is a good deal. a lot of these companies do these promotional pans because good cookware is addicting. scanpan does this (also a good thing to add to a registry) and so does swiss diamond. they sell a pan that would be ~120 for like 50 to get you hooked!

Thanks. Would you suggest the french skillets as well – or should the saute/simmer cover all of my fry pan needs?
