Well, I don’t know if I would take the word of a 2 1/2 year old, isn’t there a pretty good chance that your guy got that for your kid and pulled a “oh crap, this is for your mom!”? I know my present hiding skills have lacked this year :/

i am not going all out on xmas presents like i normally do. every penny is going to wedding things…blah

but i bought Fiance a ton of car washing stuff – he loves his car – i also bought him a new wallet because his is falling apart, i get home last night and he is like hey like my new wallet. i wanted to scream at him “YOU DONT BUY THINGS FOR YOURSELF 3 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS!”

A stuffed dog? I agree with Belle2Be; that might be the gift for your 2.5 yr old. But, let’s assume that IS what you get. I’d be disappointed, too, but I think there’s nothing you can say or do, really. Just hope that he learns from your thoughtful gift about how to do Christmas on a tight budget for next year.

@totheislnds:  that sucks, but its kind of hilarious!  hahaha

I have been raving about a certain jacket that I wanted for months and I sent him the link for it and I have been saying how excited I am (which I was!), but when I opened up my gift the other night it was a jacket, but it was NOTHING like I wanted.  I mean its still a nice coat, but I handed him the perfect present on a silver platter and he just pretended like it wasnt there!  He said he thought the one he bought me would be “warmer”.  K, thanks for that!  hahahahaha

My Fiance asked me what I want and I said a diamond tennis bracelet. I don’t really but I always gift him a crazy answer b/c he knows I like to be surprised. He, on the other hand, does not. So with the exception of one year, he has picked out his own gifts for most of the time that we have been together…and I am cool with that.

This cracks me up… I think it’s safe to say that most men lack in the gift-buying area. 🙂  Bless their hearts for trying I guess!

After just over 10 years with my Fiance, I have learned that if I really want something, I have to get it myself. And usually wrap it myself, but at least I get what I want and I am always very excited to open the gifts on Christmas morning. Last year though, he did surprise me with some very nice slippers. They are practical and I do wear them everyday, so that is a good thing. I also used to let him know exactly what I wanted, when it was on sale, and where it was located. He still didn’t get it, so I just gave up and started getting my own gifts. It works out best that way for both of us.

Haha I love it. I had a similar situation…

I was wrapping presents the other day and one of them was to my Fiance. He picked it up (already wrapped), and said, ‘Wait, I thought we weren’t getting presents for each other this year!’ (due to budget, I said let’s keep it under $50 each)

So of course I know he ran out and bought me something last minute, and I’m sure it’ll be something silly. Oh well!

We both have Amazon wishlists that we update when there’s something we want. Each list has quite a few items on it, some of which we end up purchasing ourselves and others that can be chosen as gifts. It gives us and our families ideas. We both usually end up getting each other something from the list and something not on the list. I like this because I don’t actively have to show him what I’d like, but it gives him some ideas.

[though sounds like I’m quite lucky that in general my fiance is a very thoughtful gift giver, not just at Christmas!]
