I just wanted to send you some good energy. I feel you on the long distance front, but know that it is coming to a happy end soon!
Why not look at diamond alternatives? That’s what we did when we hit financial roadmarks for a diamond. It made me realize its not the ring, its the meaning behind it… Besides, upgrading can always happen.
@beth276: My boyfriend and I were in the opposite situation of you and your SO (I was in the US and he was in Canada). I know you probably don’t want to do this, but you could always get married in Canada or the US at the courthouse, and then have him apply inland. He’d be able to work after 6 months or you could apply outland and either have him come live with you or stay in the US till he got his visa. Or another option is to somehow live with each other for 12 months if you can and apply as common law (that’s what my boyfriend and I did). Either way I’m sending good vibes your way. I know how hard it is to be in a LDR and then to have to go through immigration on top of that.
sending good thoughts your way
It’s so true: its not the ring, its the meaning behind it… Why not do it the opposite way: get a plain gold band as an engagement ring now and add a diamond engagement ring when you get married? There is no rule that there has to be a ring involved when he pops the question but I can imagine you want to “show someting” when announcing the engagement.
Sending you good thoughts for the holidays!
