You’re going to get lots of varied opinions!  🙂

My vote is for Sun Palace in Cancun.  It has great reviews and looks beautiful.

I’ve been to Jamaica and wasn’t a huge fan.  (And yes, we stayed at a Sandals resort in Jamaica…)  I know lots and lots of people have a great time there, but for us it got beyond annoying to “show us some love” every five seconds (that means TIP THEM) and yes, you hear it even at the all-inclusive, no tipping policy resorts.

Good luck on your decision, how fun!!

I would go to Jamaica bc I’ve been to MX already.

I think an AI is an AI no matter how you look at it.

@Luv2BeachIt:  oooo Sandals does that? Dang, I was thinking about staying at their St. Lucia resort. I know the Couples resorts in Jamaica do NOT endorse tipping. Like to the point where they will fire employees for accepting tips. We left chocolate candies for our housekeeper instead. But I really appreciated not having to dole out a tip for every drink, meal, cleaning, ride, etc. All-inclusive should be all-inclusive!

@aabelein:  Couples San Souci…smaller, intimate, romantic, very tropical. CSA/CN are said to have better beaches though. Would definitely recommend them. The people are very nice and helpful, and it was very relaxing!

@hisgoosiegirl: I don’t want to say ALL Sandals employees do this (in fact I think St. Lucia is one of their best resorts!), but I know at the Sandals Ocho Rios (blah) they gladly accepted tips as long as you did it discretely. And miraculously, your service got faster, your drinks were stronger, your room was actually cleaned before 7pm. And if you step foot off the resort for any activities, be prepared to “show love!” everywhere. Just a heads-up, I wasn’t prepared for that at all!

@Luv2BeachIt:  yeah, I haven’t done too much research yet, but that’s something I’ll have to watch for. I’d much rather pay the extra within the cost than have to keep a ton of small bills on me all the time. Darling Husband and I hate tipping!  And it’s not that we don’t appreciate good service…it’s that we hate dealing with the hassle, how much is enough/will this be good or will they be offended, are we supposed to tip for this, for that and on and on!

JAMAICA…Jamaica..Jamaica….go to Negril for the most awesome sunsets and some really cool AI hotels. ( I think the Jamaica tourist Board should be paying me for my recommendations services Cool).

Seriously, I am local and I LOVE Negril. It is my birthday next weekend and Fi is flying down and Negril is the first stop. Come on down and have some fun

We are thinking of honeymooning at Sun Palace in Cancun! The reviews I’ve seen online are great. My coworker has been a couple of times with her bf and has enjoyed every visit – great service and decent food, and the alcohol was flowing.

we honeymooned in Jamaica at couples swept away in Negril and it was by far the best resort i’ve ever stayed in. I’m so spoiled that when we were searching vacations this year nothing even compared. i cannot wait to go back! Negril is so beautiful and the resort was so peaceful. Its set on 17 acres and really spread out (so no highrise) It never felt crowded. The food was amazing and the staff was so kind. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I went to a destination wedding at an all-inclusive in Negril,  Jamaica and I had a fabulous time. I’ve also been to Mexico but we chose not to stay at an all-inclusive (we went eco-chic on the Mayan Riveria instead). The all-inclusive I stayed at was the Grand Lido. The rooms are a bit outdated (though with modern amenities…so really just the decor is outdated). The food was great, the beach was amazing and they had wonderful organized tours…specifically I did YS Falls (amazing!). Nothing like a little cliff jumping to get the heart pumpin’!
