I’m looking at Couples in Jamaica! It’s for couples only and seems fairly affordable. Following this thread!

Check Mexico or the Dominican, RIU, Sandles  or other ones. They tend to be in that range. They can give you an accurate quotes for your dates

I second Couples resorts. I don’t think any of them have private pools though but everything else that’s included is fantastic. We went for 6 nights and upgraded our room to one of the higher levels for around 4k including flights.

chigirl217bride:  Just as a point of reference, we spent $5400 on a 6 night stay at Sandals in Jamaica. We had a soaking tub on the balcony, but no pool. I definitely recommend booking through a travel agent if you do an all-inclusive. They can get you deals that you won’t get on your own. Another couple we talked to spent well over $7k for the same room we had because they booked by themselves online.

I also think that Mexico is significantly cheaper than the Caribbean islands. Still, we loved, loved, loved Sandals.

We are going to Couples Swept Away in Jamaica, both to elope on the beach and to have a honeymoon.  For 7 nights, plus round trip airfare for two, it was $5,500, and we opted to splurge on the Beachfront Verandah Suite.  It would have been less had we opted for the Garden Verandah Suite, which we may do if we go back as many seem to like to do.

You can ask travel agents for quotes at no charge – that’s what I did.  At first I thought we’d try Sandals, but they spend more on advertising and are a bit more commercial and high-energy I was told, and we wanted more laid back and relaxed.  It’s all-inclusive – drinks, food, and some activties and excursions are included with the price of the room.  Snorkling, catamaran cruise, glass bottom boat are all included, as are things at the water sports kiosk, like paddle boards, small two person catamarans, and kayaks.  I think there are actitivies and shows each day and night, like bonfires and steel drum musicians.

Jamaica has 4 couples resorts, the prices are a bit different based on whcih one you choose.  Swepy Away seemed to have the most restaurants and variety, and was closer to the airport than Tower Isle and Ocho Rios.

We liked this because trying to figure out money for food as well as entertainmnet and travel was driving me crazy, and we wanted to get married on the trip as well, so a place that includes the wedding with a 6 night stay was awesome.  We just picked a day, time and location, flower color and cake flavor, and then show up. 🙂  We leave in a week and get married next Saturday, so I can post photos and a review when we get back.

Depends on the time of year you are traveling. Prices are most expensive over Christmas break, Jan – March versus going in the spring/summer/fall. You can definitely go for $5k, but a private pool is not very likely unless you go off-season. We’ve been to a lot of all-inclusives (Couples, Secrets, Paradisus, I can’t remember all of them). I find Jamaica to be very laid back, service is painfully slow. We have found all-inclusives in Mexico to be better in terms of service, quality and luxury. I do have to be honest that I prefer non-all inclusives in general because I have not found that all-inclusive a are 4 or 5 star like they claim. But they can be really fun, we’ve met some great people at all-inclusives and love that there aren’t any fees or unanticipated expenses at the end. Hope that helps, congrats and have fun!

Excellence hotels in mexico will fit your budget – I’m not sure if any if the rooms have a private pool but for sure they have private indoor and outdoor jacuzzis in swim up rooms. I stayed at the one in riviera maya and it was great.

Just got back from Couples Swept Away!  It was great!  The staff was awesome, and we had the added issue of ctaully getting married there, so we had to make time to meet with the photographer and coordinator, but the day went well, we were married on the beach, photos were ready and in a gorgeous album before we left for home.

The biggest problem we had was nothing to do with the resort, or even Jamaica, but with our connecting airport.  Dalla Fort Worth was a complete mess and if our final flight had not been delayed, the TSA would hve made us miss it.

I plan to write a Trip Advisor review soon, will copy it here 🙂

We’re doing ten days in Bali at an all inclusive for about $5000CAD at a 4.5 star resort! I’ve done Mexican all inclusives many times and am so excited to branch out!
