Hey Ladies – we’re looking at various Caribbean locations for our Honeymoon, and Punta Cana has been highly recommended. Anyone have any recent experience with all inclusive resorts out there? I feel like you never get an accurate idea online. Any positive or negative feedback on places would be helpful!
THANKS!!

We had a wonderful time at the Melia Caribe Tropical. There are LOTS of restaurant options and you can eat à la carte every night. The pools are great, lots of activities to do, and of course the beach is nice…
What you see online is not as beautiful as it is in real life, the place is breathtaking. Melia is a hotel chain originally from Spain, and you can kind of feel that in the design of the place..

I’ve stayed at two different AI in Punta Cana. My favorite was the Iberostar Bavaro. Great beach. Nice room….all suites. Had room service. Good drinks and food. Check out Apple Vacations for deals and Trip Adivisor for guest reviews.

My husband and I have stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe in Punta Cana twice. There are like 3 resorts in one but pretty much all the same except Amber gets use of a private adults only pool. THe beach is awesome, people are super nice and you can eat and drink 24/7. The grounds are beautiful also. There is buffet and ala carts. We can’t wait to go back again! And the price is usually cheaper than some of the other all inclusives but not for lack of anything.

I was in Punta Cana last year for an event, and toured several resorts while I was there.
The beaches are beautiful. The people are beautiful. But once you get outside the resort, things are not so beautiful. I was in shock by the amount of litter there.
I also found the language barrier to be an issue. I don’t speak Spanish. So I found asking the waiters questions about the food, ( I am allergic to nuts) to be challenging.
So, if you’re the kind of couple that just wants to hang at the beach and never leave the resort, it may be a good fit. But if you want to go outside the resort and explore, it wouldn’t be my top recommendation.

We’re staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda next year, which is an upgraded section of the GBP Punta Cana/Bavaro resort, that gets you a few extra perks. We stayed at the GBP Bavaro in 2008 and really enjoyed it, so are looking forward to our stay.
I would also look at Mexico though, as IMPO there’s a bigger selection of resorts, and generally speaking, they’re of a higher standard than resorts in Punta Cana. You also have more freedom in Mexico; you can easily go out and about and there’s lots to do off-resort, which isn’t the case in PC.

@QBbride you will love it.. we had such a great time we didnt leave the resort at all and it was the best vacation ever, the steakhouse is the best restaurant there in my opinion so definitely try that your first night!
