So I really enjoy the idea of an all inclusive resort. I live in Charleston currently so being on the ocean isn’t the most novel thing for me but I do love the idea of being able to walk the beach at night, shows, but particulary excursions. My FI and I are very outdoorsy people so kayaking, paddle boarding, ziplining, hiking, etc. really appeals to both of us!
I’ve looked at Sandals and Couples and both are a bit pricey but not necessarily out of our price range. Probably would prefer not to spend over 4K including airfare from Detroit (where we will be leaving from).
If anybody has any suggestions as to which all inclusive they went to, how much, and where I’d love you for it! Or hey, even if you went somewhere not all inclusive my ears are still open
P.S. I haven’t ruled out Puerto Rico but I have been there before and would like to go somewhere I haven’t been as well as FI so we can experience something new together.

We’re going to this all inclusive adult-only resort in Playa del Secreto called Valentin Imperial Maya. It has great reviews on TripAdvisor! Not sure which month you’re looking at but we are paying ~ $210/night for early October so the total cost including airfare is around $2500 for both of us for 7 nights (we’re flying from DC).
I highly recommend checking cheapcaribbean.com for price checking; they have really good search tools, then do more research on TripAdvisor forums for specific resort advice. Good luck!

For our honeymoon we went to Excellence Playa Mujeres, for airfare and a week in a rooptop pool suite it was $4000. It was paradise. Food, room, service, everything was beyond perfection. Definitely recommend. My husband and was sooo against Mexico but he cannot wait to go back here. We went on a snorkleing excursion to Isla Mujeres, visited Chichen Itza and went swimming in a cenote. Tons of other excursion nearby as well.
We’re going to Cabo in January and staying at Dreams Los Cabos all-inclusive. Gotten a lot of positive reviews from friends and we’re looking forward to it. We got free airfare but for a week the room is $1,400 so not bad at all. It looks very nice, our other option was Sandos Finesterra in Cabo with is another nice all inclusive.
We went to Jamaica, didn’t love it. We’ve been to the Nassua about 6 times, we didn’t think it was anything special, might as well just to Florida. Some other Bahamas islands were nice though.
Virgin Islands and Aruba have been on my to-do list, although they are pricier!

Last month we went to Excellence Playa Mujeres for a destination wedding(as a guest) and it was amazing. Its not my 1st trip to Mexico and this trip paled in comparison to the other!! Look up the reviews on trip advisor.

We’ve just got back from this incredible resort in Tulum, Mexico:
It was absolutely incredible, I cannot recommend it enough!! We were in Villa 31 which is 2 secs away from the most incredible beach. Kayaking, snorkelling and all other non-motorised watersports were included and there were over 300 excursions to choose from (anything from swimming with whalesharks to mayan ruins to ziplining through the jungle). Its a very large resort (you can use all the facilities from all three hotels, so have over 10 A la Carte restaurants to choose from, approx 9 swimming pools, a casino, golf course etc.) but it never felt too big or at all crowded!! You would never know how many people were on the resort, could always get a sunbed etc.

It was honestly incredible, so clean and the food (even in the buffet restaurants) was delicious (and I have high standards lol) !!

Here is their trip advisor which is full of people who has similar amazing experiences there.. 🙂

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g499445-d503104-Reviews-Grand_Bahia_Principe_Tulum-Akumal_Yucatan_Peninsula.html

I can’t really advise you as to the price as we are form teh UK and so it our airfare would have bumped up our package price significantly. We still paid under $4000 dollars though..

Can’t agree more on Excellence Playa Mujeres! I have been there twice and it’s by far my favorite all inclusive adults only resort in Mexico.

2YorkiesMama: I booked through expedia on a Wednesday 24 hour deal. I stalked all travel sites for months before we booked to get the best deal. We went to a travel agent too who charged $2K more for the same dates, room, price etc.

adomke: I went to Cancun with my SO in June and that was awesome. As some PPs said, both Chichen Itza and Tulum are wonderful. We only did 5 days so we didn’t do more adventurous stuff — it is definitely our kind of thing but we were lazy and wanted to drink margaritas on the beach lol. We stayed at the Hyatt Zilara in the resort zone of Cancun but the hotel arranged transport and activities for anything. Super easy to do, even easier if you speak Spanish, haha!!
