It should be wonderful. Make sure you take liquid paracetamol (obviously it’s available there you you won’t want to trailing around Farmacias if your baby has a temperature.

A pop-up UV sun shade is very useful like the example below, just keep checking he isn’t too hot and offer him cool boiled water at regular intervals.

If you are breast feeding then it’s a doddle, if you’re bottle feeding you will need more clobber but your hotel may offer some equipment like sterilisers. You can check before you go.

Be prepared for people to make a big fuss of your baby and if you’re not Hispanic or Mediterranean yourself, you may need to acclimatise to people patting, touching and affectionately pinching your baby more than you are accustomed to. When you get back home you may feel affronted that your baby is no longer treated like a little prince by random strangers.

I don’t have a baby but I went to a Rui resort in playa del Carmen (from the uk) a couple of years ago and I’d definitely say it’s great for a baby.

Plenty of pool choices, easy flat walk straight onto the beach or into the nice nearby little town area. Lots of shady spots. Range of eating places on site and entertainment too so you could take some of that in by chilling on the surrounding tables if you wanted without having your little one into a noisy crush.

I think they only thing you’d want to check is your accommodation was easily reachable with a buggy.

Barcelo Maya Palace would be awesome… they have a kids water playground. Dreams Tulum also very nice, much much smaller but family friendly as well.

I second Dreams. There is also one in Peurto Adventuras, which is completely gated, so you can leave and walk around outside the resort. It’s about a five min walk to swimming with dolphins 🙂 lots of little shops too, so you can avoid the chaos in playa del Carmen but still get some fun souvenirs.

I agree with the crowd- Dreams is the place to go if you have a baby. Their Puerto Vallarta resort is built into a little nook/cove with a private beach and is gorgeous. Last time we went there lots of NBA players and their families were there and they raved that Dreams is the only resort they’ll go to in Mexico. It really is wonderfui.

ExpectingBee:  We just went to Punta Cana last month and there was a few young babies. I am not good with ages so I don’t know exactly how old they were I don’t think any were that young . They looked to manage just fine. We have been to Mexico twice and didn’t see babies there either time.
