A huge snowfall fell that night before the wedding. Headlines about the weather read “Weather Returns With a Vengeance” and “More Snow in One Day Than All Winter”, ridiculous things like that. The temperature was dancing around -25°C, the winds up at 40 kph.
I got ready at an adorable salon downtown, which looked like a fishbowl. My girls were with me.
When we were paid up and heading out, we put plastic bags over our heads to protect our hair from the wind and snow. It didn’t last that long, but the idea was good! Of course, I thought it was hilarious – very fitting for my wedding, that we all turned into bag ladies! Hahaha.
Darling Husband, when seeing the photo above – “Hello, Geordi!”
The boys got ready at DH’s father’s place. They laid out a smorgasbord for them, and DH’s stepmom, who has her own salon set up in the basement, gave him a 13th hour fix up.
She’s perplexed by his cowlick. So am I, SMIL, so am I!
Darling Husband helping out my big brother get his giant, manly arms and his broad, manly shoulders into his dainty little suit jacket.
My poor, rejected pearls! I was planning on wearing them for some bridal party shots, not the actual ceremony or reception. They were brought in my purse which was left in the car. No way we were going back out in the snow to get them!
Special delivery of flowers! My dad dropped them off for us, note the blender box in the background, haha. We were laaaate… so late! Rushing around like mad women the whole time we were in the bridal suite. That we look calm and relaxed at all is a huge testament to our photographer’s skill! Anyway, my dad wanted to leave for a huge slew of reasons and we just barely managed to convince him to stay long enough for us to send someone down to grab them from him.
My sister DIY’ed all our flowers for the wedding! She’s taken a course so that sort of makes it professional, right? Aren’t they amazing!?
Shot of liquid courage for the men!
Next is our first look! I won’t spoil it by interrupting with any little commentary, no matter how hard I want to!
For all debating whether or not to do a first look themselves – yes, he had seen me in my dress before! I had a friend with me to help when I bought it, but he was there too! He had seen me in it before, more than once. I adored seeing him, and I love the way these turned out!
Also, our photographers asked us before we did this shoot if we wanted more privacy for it. I was all “uh… I don’t wanna… I mean what?? Why??”. All I was thinking about was my husband (and not falling over in my shoes and that dress) and I couldn’t have cared less if they were all standing around waving their dicks at us at the time (:
