SexyLove804:  our ceremony was at 1pm, and most guests stayed at our evening reception until 1.30am with quite a few staying until 3am, and my OH and a couple of people until 5.30am. Personally 5 hours would be way too short, and I wouldn’t book anywhere where we had to be out before midnight. I don’t think either (short amount of time and early finish) make for a proper party atmosphere.

Im in Ireland so we do things a little bit diffent as the hotels dont really give you a finish time.

The church is at 1pm then we will go for photos while everyone else heads to the venue.

Canapes and drinks will be on arrival from 3-5.30. Then dinner will be at 6 by the time everone has been seated.

Dancing will start around 9 till 2.30… then most people will head to the residents bar!

No clue what time ill get to bed but I would say around 4am…

leximarti082:  I think this is pretty cool! I’ve never heard this superstition. Our ceremony starts at noon, reception starts at 1 and goes to 5.

We’re not big partiers, but I felt four hours was plenty to eat lunch and then dance, dance, dance!

Our ceremony will start at 6pm. We’re doing all our photos (aka the first look) before hand, and going to cocktail hour at 6:30, reception to begin at 7:30. We’re having everything at the venue which I love because no transportation issues.

Our ceremony begins at 3 pm. Cocktail hour goes from 3:30-5:00 and the reception goes from 5:00 to 8:30. Our reception is a dinner reception, no dancing, so we feel that three and a half hours is plenty. Oh and everything is happening at the same venue.

My ceremony and reception are in the same venue. Our ceremony starts at 5:30pm, 6:15pm cocktail hour and dinner at 7:15pm. We wrap up at 11pm – my venue only does 1 event/wedding per day.

Ceremony at 6, party until midnight. Your decision depends on whether it’s an indoor/outdoor ceremony, where you want to take photos, and time of year. Sunset on my date is not until 7, so I have about 30 minutes of light after to take photos, plus before. If it’s in October, you’ll have less, so take that into consideration.

SexyLove804:  Our ceremony was at 5:30. Cocktail hour 6-7. Reception 7-11. We then had an afterparty from 11-1:30 or so.

If I were you, I’d set up an “after party” at a local bar or restaurant. You don’t have to host it but maybe could get some appetizers/snacks. Some people may want to go home.

I know that in my crowd…even if a wedding was at 11 am, people would be partying and drinking, lol.

SexyLove804:  we have the venue from 11am to midnight. Our wedding is starting at 5 and we have the DJ until 1130

There is already talk of an after party at the hotel bar where about 1/3 of the guest and we are staying.
