I do think that is what happened with the garage door opener because more then one house on our street was hit. We had someone come last night and reprogram the garage door opener so that it is a unqiue code that will only open with our openers. He did also block up a part of the door itself where he said someone can use a clothes hanger and reach in and pull the the rope/cord and it will open the garage. Additionally he showed us that there is a switch you can hit at night that will lock the door entirely. The garage door openers can’t even open it. It basically shuts it completely down. Most of them have this switch but you would never know it.
The good thing about our wedding list is that 95% of it is from people out of town. We are getting married up in New England and we live in the south. Our family and friends are all spread out and we aren’t inviting many people from here because we’re going to have a second party here when we get back from the honeymoon but I appreciate the advice. We’ll notify the people who do live around here.
We are also installing an alarm system so if someone does try to break in while we are away on our honeymoon it will hopefully deter them. We’re also leaving our pets at home and someone will be by several times a day to take care of them. I hope thats enough!
