I would talk to your boss. Allergies are no joke and this message now needs to come from the top. I’d even go so far as to say that of after being told by management they still spray perfume that there should be some consequence to that.

Who needs to continuously put perfume on during the day? I spray it on once in the morning and I’m smelling it until I shower. If you need to freshen up, try deodorant maybe??

I’d definitely bring it up with my boss. She sounds like one of those people who like to “test” allergies to see if they’re “real” or not…then just doesn’t care if they are. I’ve had people “test” my celiac and then be like “well you didn’t die so it’s fine!” Uhh, no it’s not. She didn’t take it seriously when her gross ass lasagna put her coworker in the hospital, she’s not going to take any of this seriously without a warning from her boss.

Side note, adding peanuts to lasagna is an abomination and someone needs to put an end to that madness!!

missviolet92 :  I hope that woman who put peanuts in lasagne was fired! It’s not expected (and sounds gross) and it’s common courtesy to put allergy warnings on the dish when cooking for a crowd.

I would escalate to your boss or HR. These women are intentionally making you ill. Sorry you have such shitty coworkers.

This bitch is going to get her ass sued with that shit. I have a peanut allergy and I too would have been hospitalized.  I don’t eat coworker food bc I don’t trust people. But it sounds like she knew about the allergic person and chose not to warn her about the odd ingredient.  Yea she should have asked but cant we be human?! I have people like this too one will offer me cookies all the time and I say I can’t unless i can read the ingredients ad nauseum. It took over two years to get her to stop pestering me about cookies.  Literally would ask why not oh they should be fine just a cookie. Ugh.

I had to go to management for my fragrance allergy too (we have s policy against it). They had to go tell them to knock it off. I was getting hives and wheezing with eczema.  It was a strong  plug in (which is banned).

You gotta escalate these people aren’t nice coworkers. They’re actively testing you. This is hostile work environment stuff. There was a lawsuit in the US about this and the guy WON. Google fragrance employee lawsuit city I think.

missviolet92 :  she doesn’t have to take responsibility to get fired! But with coworkers like that definitely take it to your boss and HR. They sound horrid.

I’m allergic to fragrance and sympathize with you!  I know they’re “friendly,” but your coworkers sound crazy.  What they’re doing is careless and cruel. I was going to make an analogy between your perfume allergy and someone with a peanut allergy but clearly that’d be lost on this lady…

I would have 0 problems taking this issue to a manager (do you all report to the same one?) AND HR.  I’d even use the peanuts in lasagna scenario in part of my complaint, because it establishes a history with the one woman.

I have no tolerance for this type of shit, so I’d start leaving work whenever they use perfume and/or whenever the allergic reactions start.  I’d also make it crystal clear IN WRITING to my manager why I’m missing work- team members deliberately making me sick.  Having this situation documented with HR would also protect you against any potential discipline for leaving work early too frequently if the situation doesn’t change immediately, but I doubt it will get to that point.

She puts peanuts in lasagna. Obviously she’s insane and can not be reasoned with.

Wow, I can’t believe she had the nerve to spray it in front of you while you were asking her to stop. Definitely time to take the issue to management.
