We’ve been ttc since November and after reading a bunch of posts here I forced my husband to go to the dollar store and pick up a bunch of ovulation and pregnancy tests. Thanks for all of you posting that one can buy them there, so much cheaper!
Anyway, I’m now on CD 10 and decided to have a closer look at the test. The first step of the test procedure reads:
“Allow the sealed LH Cassette test pouch, patient’s urine sample and control solution to reach room temperature (18-30C)”
I’ve only used tests that you pee on directly, so I’m feeling totally lost here. Anyone have any experience of this type of test and care to share some tips? Do you actually measure the temperature of the urine sample (because then I guess I need to get a special pee- thermometer) or do you just let it sit until you guess it’s about right?

@ajillity81: Well, it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one that doesn’t really get it! 🙂 They were only $1.25 each, so in case I mess up/find them horribly impractical (feels like that at this point) they’re not a big loss.

@eocenia: I used dollar store tests and never heard of this. I just peed into a paper cup and used the dropper to drop it directly onto the test. 30 degrees C is 86 degrees F. Given the average body temp is 98.6 degrees F, I feel that given the time it sits in the cup for a few seconds while you’re “cleaning yourself up”, it probably drops within that range normally….?

I also used the ones with the dropper, and did the pee in a cup thing. I never bothered to let it ‘cool down’, and the results were accurate.

Thanks for your replies, I’ll follow your advice and just not bother with the cool down period. I’m thinking that I’ll just suck it up from the edges, where it might be a little cooler, at most. Seriously the things one do in the process of getting that BFP… 🙂

hm. i wonder what the reasoning on that is. i’ve never heard of it and you would think either you have the hormones in your system or not so what difference can it make
