so i get to work today and a box of my stuff is in the lobby with a note, stating basically my employment has been terminated and i should find all my belongings in this box. I am a claims processing specialist with allstate i am 23 and have been employed for 2.5 years. its a very difficult and demanding job, to say the least. ive been miserable there since day one! they are very demeaning, scruntize everything you do. its basically a call center enviroment as we process auto and property claims, determine liability and issue checks. any time you are not actually talking to a customer its considered unproductive time that counts against you even if your working the claim. your only allowed 1 min 30 sec after each call. and we will usually have 125 calls in quequ that are waiting to be answered. we are allotted 15 min a month for bathroom time. my desk alone is about a 5 min walk and another 5 min walk back to my desk and when i say walk your at a moderate jogging pace. we are given 2 15 minute breaks which i use for bathroom time. but i drink about 74 oz of water to stay hydrated as they keep the air conditoner on as they feel it will stop germs from being spread. you then have 8 calls reviewed a month from everything on customer service to state laws to documentation. to reading scripts verbatim, call flo interaction, voice clarity, ive been so stressed i cant sleep, my hair has been falling out thank good i have very thick hair and ive been depressed for months, i find myself always in tears and crying for everything. they have been writing me up every other day this month. for any small item they can find on me, my after call time being at 2 min, for my bathroom time being at 20 min for last month, oh and the best part is the min manager got into my facebook somehow and printed out my facebook pages??? im not sure why there was nothing bad or innapropriate on them. i havent missed one day of work in over 2 years, out of the 372 other processors i work with i am ranked the 23rd highest. but yet they fired me!!!! all the mangers about 2 to 5 years older then me and hook up with everyone, sleep arounf with everyone or have crazy parties with other co workers. I do not go out with co worers as this is unprofessional and plus im getting married i have no busniess doing that with these people. so i am so stressed about loosing my job and now im so unsure about the wedding and everything!!!! any other unemployed brides?????

Getting terminated is never any fun. It does however, sound like you will be better off working elsewhere.

I know the timing is terrible and all, but it sounds like it was a blessing in disguise if you ask me… I hope you are able to find a better job soon, where you will be respected and appreciated for your hard work. My thoughts are with you.

I worked for Allstate in the Claims processing center until about 2.5 years ago.. when they opened the call center in Las Cruces and sent our jobs there 😉
I feel your pain! It’s a tough job and it’s produce, produce, produce, all the time. I could never understand why the company wouldn’t invest more in the First Notice of Loss centers. To me it would be unacceptable to have that many calls waiting in the queue, but I guess I don’t understand the priorities. It is a good company in general – they do try to have a nice benefits package. However I’ve noticed from my recent job search that they don’t pay as much as other companies for similar roles.
When they closed our Claims Service Center I was able to switch to a different part of the company where I didn’t have to be on phones at all. They just announced they are sending those jobs to India, though (yay), so now I have found a new job working for a medical supply company. I haven’t started the new job yet and I know I’ll miss my co-workers at Allstate. I had no problem finding work (accepted my current job at the 29 day mark) and was actually able to turn down some offers until I got a good fit. It helps that I have a bachelor’s degree and am mostly looking in customer-servicey type jobs where most people don’t have degrees. But don’t fret, you will find something.

I say good riddance to those immature ingrates. They didn’t deserve you anyway! Take a breather and then go find a company that actually appreciates its employees.

Magdalena im in las cruces nm that is crazy!!!! my mom is trying to convince me its for the best and i know it is its just feels like the wrong timing right now. i always fell bad as they are out sourcing more and more. and closing offices all over and trying to condense and utting more of a work load on other centers. at my center we were told were easily replaced, which just makes us feel worthless. but hopefully i find somethig better and hoe to finish school soon and be at my dream job fingers crossed!!!
