I’m in the early stages of planning, and I’ve been looking at some dresses and I can’t stop coming back to Allure Bridals selections! I love the old-fashioned look and beautiful lace of their dresses. I am a street size 16 and I’m wondering if anyone has tried on these types of dresses & has any pics? The fit of these look pretty slim so I’m wondering if ya have to be stick-thin to wear them! Also, does anyone know the price range of Allure? There is a store in my neighborhood that carries the brand but I’m afraid to go in there! Not quite ready, hoping to drop a few lbs 🙂 The first link is my favorite.

I think more than size, your build matters with dresses like these. I’m a 10-12, and actually tried on the first dress… It looked horrible on me. I’m a pear shape, and while it fit in my hips, the bust was totally loose, and I ended up looking like a walking bowling pin. NOT attractive. On the other hand, I’ve seen plus size girls in this style of dress who look amazing! I think if you’re proportional, you have a better chance of looking great in those dresses.
Good luck! 🙂

You don’t have to be super slim to wear these dresses! You can also add a shaper if you’d like to get a smoother shape. I’m a street size 12-14 and have tried on a lot of dresses I never thought would have looked nice on me! I looked on ebridalsuperstore.com and the prices for the dresses range from $700-$900. They have the cheapest prices I’ve seen. Or you could try netbride.com. Both are reputable and accreditated by the BBB. Good luck!

I wanted so much to try on Allure 8770 but I could never find it in a size that would work enough to give me an idea. I think Allure prices are generally reasonable, though. Less than a grand. Good luck!

I’m a 12/14 street size and I tried on the first one (no pictures sadly). I liked the way it looked but it was a little too much emphasis on my child bearing hips. (Might have been just that the sample was a tad small.
I also tried on this one and it was STUNNING. Only problem was the V neck went a LITTLE too low for my girls:
As for price point, I think they are in the $2k and under range.

I actually think that most dresses look way better on a “real person” than on the stick thin models! I agree with the first poster about being proportionate, especially in the first dress. Just the way that it is shaped- its seems that it needs to be pretty even on top and bottom. I absolutely love the 8770 dress! (your second one) Ive never seen it before and its just stunning!!

Thanks for all of the tips! Once I get enough courage to go try some on, I’ll let ya know how it goes 🙂
