@Charlies_Angel:  relax, your baby is just fine! The amount of alcohol in a daiquiri is pretty insignificant.  Also, plenty of people don’t know they’re pregnant at 8 weeks and have been drinking much more and are fine.

I do hope you said something to the manager though. That’s pretty unacceptable for a number of reasons!

@Charlies_Angel:  You and the baby will be fine. Like another poster said, many women don’t find out they are pregnant until several weeks into their pregnancy and have been drinking that entire time.

Did you say something to the waitress? I would have been very upset, too!

My best friend didn’t know she was pregnant until she was about 10-12 weeks. Just before she found out, I stayed with her for a week and we drank almost every day and went out and got super drunk one night. Her daughter is 2 and completely healthy. You are technically “allowed” to have a little bit of alcohol throughout your pregnancy. You’ll be fine.

In fact, the stress of freaking out is proabably worse for your baby than the tiny amount of alcohol that you consumed.

@Charlies_Angel:  baby will be fine as others have said it may have only been the second that had alcohol and since you didn’t immediately notice it probably wasn’t too strong either…it will be ok =]

having said that I would’ve totally thrown a fit…because that is just wrong that waitress should absoultely be facing some consequences for being so careless.

@Charlies_Angel:  the drink probably only had 1-2 ounces of alcohol in it.  don’t worry about it.  some women who don’t find out that they are pregnant until in their 3rd month have drank more than that and their babies were just fine.

calm down.  i think your constant worrying will be more harmful to the baby than that bit of alcohol.

It’s possible the mix just tasted funny and there may not have been alcohol in it. I guess you didn’t ask the bartender or waitress?

I would call the manager and discuss it. It’s possible they remember.

If in fact they did serve you alcohol I would be ballistic grade pissed. I would call your doctor or obgyn about it, even just for some reassurance that it’s likely going to be fine. Just to put your mind at ease.

Sorry this happened 🙁

Oh my goodness, you’re going to be totally fine, sweetie.

Heck, my mom did a wine tasting when she was pregnant with me, and I turned out just fine. Or at least as far as we know! 😉

I probably would mention something to the manager, though. Details like this shouldn’t be missed- what if you’d had a food allergy and she forgot to mention something to the bartender/chef/appropriate person? THAT could cause some big-time issues.

@Charlies_Angel:  PLEASE take some deep breaths and calm down. It’s okay. I really think the first drink was a virgin as requested, so it was only the second one that had alcohol, and one drink is not going to hurt your baby. It’s going to be fine.

Drinking a 6 pack every day is something to worry about.  Having 1 drink is not.  Throwing up and freaking out is probably doing more harm to yourself and the baby then the one drink.

@Charlies_Angel:  You and baby are going to be just fine. The really dangerous thing about alcohol + pregnancy is *binge drinking* – if you drink a lot of alcohol quickly, your body can’t metabolize it before it gets to the baby, and the baby’s liver can’t handle it. If you drink a small amount over a normal period of time, it gets metabolized and doesn’t have the same impact.

We don’t have enough evidence to state a clear cutoff point of what is “safe” and what isn’t (plus, it’s different for everyone because of different body size, etc., and there are obviously huge ethical problems in doing a study like that with pregnant women) so the party line is “No amount of alcohol is safe,” but the scenario you are describing really is not something you need to worry about.

Relax. One drink will not make the slightest difference. The stress it is causing you is more likely to have a harmful effect, to be honest.

The health warnings about alcohol use while pregnant are wildly over the top but I can understand that there can be a need to shock people into realising that alcohol in significant qualities is bad for the developing foetus. However, in many European countries (where we have perfectly healthy babies too!) it is not considered terribly irresponsible to have the occasional drink. The keyword being occasional.  ,
