I’m 8w4d pregnant and I had my first pelvic exam today… They did a swab of something and she told me I may experience some bright red spoting for 24 hours. I did notice this and possible Too Much Information, but I noticed there was a little bit of clotting with it. Not big clots but I guess just kind of a small string, I guess maybe it was discharge that was bloody? It’s not a big clot by any means and she said my cervix looked great and uterus felt great and that I looked and felt pregnant. lol whatever that means at 8w4d. Anyway I just wonder if its normal to see that there was a little tiny blood clot. I guess I shouldn’t even call it a clot.. i guess the best way to describe it would be like the egg white consistancy cervical mucus, but red instead of clear. It was just a tiny little one along with some spots of blood. And there isn’t an alarming amount of blood. But I’m just a FTM who wants to make sure that sounds normal after an exam where they swabbed me!

Since she warned you about it, don’t worry at all! Everything is fine!

@gpsp2B: It sounds totally normal! Try to not worry about it but if you wake up with more spotting call just to be sure.

I think that sounds normal. I google imaged “pregnancy spotting” (which I would not reccommend!!) and a lot of it looks like EWCM with some blood in it, which sounds like what you are describing.

Is normal , I was in the same position 5 weeks ago and even went to the ER I am almost 13 weeks pregnant now.

@MademoiselleL: lol! Thanks for doing that! I’m glad I don’t have to google image it … though I’m suprised I didnt!
@catracha: good to know!!
And thanks to the other ladies too!! I guess just FTM worries :]

I’m sure you are fine! I didn’t have an exam that early, but I had several cervical checks last week (I’m about 38w) and they caused me to have spotting afterward. That whole area up there is pretty sensitive!

I had the exact same thing happen and my son is 8 months old now! It’s totally normal. My doctor told me the cervix is way more sensitive during pregnancy. I also had heavy spotting at the end when they did cervical checks.
