Were you able to breathe properly when it was laced tightly? When my dress was first altered my seamstress did it a bit too tight so I could only take really shallow breaths. It made me feel light headed and she had to take it out a bit again because I knew I couldn’t handle having it that tight the day of my wedding.

Just lace the corset a bit looser for your wedding day and you should be fine.

I didn’t try on any corset back wedding dresses but did wear corsets when I danced burlesque. I know the tighter you tie them the more fabulous they look but breathing is also important. Just tie it a little looser and you should be fine.

MrsSaez:  Poor thing! This happened to me the first time I went shopping. Next time you go tell them not to force it. Trying on dresses should be fun!

This happened to me at my first fitting. I almost fainted and couldnt continue the fitting because I was SO lightheaded. I went from being beat red hot to the whitest I have ever seen myself get. The dress looked amazing but no way can it be tied anywhere near that tight again, my ribs hurt the next day!

I went through a period when I was younger where I fainted with an unfortunately frequency related to blood pressure issues. So I know how scary it can be to have the feeling of being about to go over the edge. The best thing I learned was to get over the embarassment and simply sit down whenever I get the feeling. Even if it’s in the middle of the grocery or in a wedding dress!

From my exerience wedding dress shopping, I think the salespeople pull the corsets really tight to make you look good, so you buy the dress. When in reality, you shouldn’t wear them that tight for the wedding. I would ask them to lace corsets snug but not tight in the future. You should be able to take a deep breath.

MrsSaez:  Honestly this happens to me if I try to put on shapewear. The ‘smoothing and tucking’ makes me severely ill and I almost fainted last time I tried to put some on.

Maybe I’m using the wrong shapewear, but I was kind of done after that.

MrsSaez:  It does look amazing pulled really tight, but even if you are super thin it can always be tied tight enough to constrict you. Mine was tied so tight at my fitting because I wanted to have some boobs in the dress but fainting is not worth it just to look even skinnier and to show the girls off  a bit! Being able to breathe is much more important 🙂 haha. Its too bad because it did look SO GOOD tied that tight

MrsSaez:  Oi that’s scary!  Reminds me of that Pirates of the Caribean movie where Kiera Knightley’s character faints because of her dress being too tight!
